Congratulations to the real winners at Mid Ohio. Sounds like there was some close, yet clean competition. Keep those race reports comming.

Thanks in advance, Robert Patton

Yo guys, this was a fun thread to read. Robert, nice job on setting it up.

Laura, you had me winning the whole thing, right?

I think I can safely say all of us who were there had an absolute ball! It was great to finally meet all the west coast guys. They run a real slick operation and I look forward to racing them again next year. And they tell me many more will be making the pilgrimage East next year, let’s hope that is the case.

It was great to see Simon and Mike too, hopefully those guys can hit a couple of out of region events next year. I know I’m definitely getting out to MO again before the big dance next year.

Also had fun hanging with the Southeast contingent. Hope more of ya’ll can make it up North for next years event. I think next year Skeen or Davidson are gonna be the guys to beat!

Overall my week was good once I got the oil pressure issues squared away on Thursday. I got one of those oil pressure gauges and it’s scary when it’s showing 10 PSI and the lights blinking at 5000 rpm! Well, it still ran anyway.

The car was pretty good Friday and Saturday. I think we all had tire issues and unfortunately I never fully figured mine out. Friday I was leading and got killed on the restart, Osborne got taken out by a Legends car and Cobetto sailed to victory with me in tow. Saturday I had a poor qualifying run and started 6th. In the race I got a decent start, brushed by Simon and worked back to second. Late in the race I almost got by Chris in the Keyhole due to a yellow flag and a slow Neon in one. But once again, I followed Cobetto to the flag to finish second.

Finally in Sundays race I hit the rev limiter in third on the start going into the keyhole, Cobetto went sailing through and rest of the race I had MikeSkeen.com in my mirrors. I couldn’t relax for one moment, the guy can drive! The car never felt great and I couldn’t run better the low 44’s. Meanwhile at the front, Chris drove away with a mistake free race to take the win.

Congrats to Chris Cobetto, now a two time national champion! And Mike Skeen with a very solid third, they both drove great all weekend. I’m thrilled to come out of the weekend in second place considering all the great drivers and talent we have in our series. Can’t wait to see you all at the track again soon!

Jon, Laura had the top 3 in order. Her last two picks were flipped. In the no-cost, no payoff office pool, I had you in first as did several others. Sounds like it was some good racing with only a little mechanical drama to keep things spiced up.

With only two cars from the SE , I’ve gotta say that our represenative Skeen gives the other SE guys some hope in running with the best that MA, Ohio area, NE and West coast have to offer.

I was talking to Damion this AM and we agree that you typically run to the speed that the competition dictates. So, come on down to some SE events next year and help us raise the performance standards.

Regards, Robert Patton

I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to represent the Southeast as well as Skeen the Machine, but I plan to make the trip next year. MidO looks like one hell of a fun track and it sounds like a great way to spend a few days.

Jon, if you really "Can’t wait to see you all at the track again soon!" (as you say)… you should make the trip down to Roebling. We’ve got 21 cars signed up and would love to have a few more.

Congrats again.

I first want to say congrats to chris on his second national championship win! And congrats to johhny and skeen on their podium finishes. You guys drove an awesome race.

Thanks for the compliments simon. I had an awesome time racing with you in the final race. Actually I had a great time racing with everyone. It was good to see some new faces and I thought the level of competition was the highest i’ve seen. Everyone was driving very well. I will post my video of the final race up later tonight. I’ll post my final race summary up with the video.

Mike, congratulations on the top five finish. You know that the SE guys had to be pulling for Pantas and Skeen…unless you join us full time next year.

It looks like a Top 5 at any Spec e30 event is going to be an accomplishment. Glad I got into the sport earily so that I could post a "W". Now we’ve gotta get one for Laura and Ed.

See you at Roebling?

Gee, guess I’m not as handsome as Cobetto:P

Good racing indeed. Except for a couple of bumps it wasn’t too bad. I think Herrington could have fixed his buggy but he was already exhausted from chasing mechanicals earlier in the event. Same with Carlton, he was having some weird brake issues and just threw in the towel. Scott Lear is still having his brake woes too. Dunno, nobody can figure it out.

Thanks for the kind words and I would love to come down south for some of that low country cooking. That’s what ya’ll call it right? I’ll most likely come to RA again, will have to see about what others.

Saw a dead opossum on the side of the road the other day and thought of Al…

Damn, your callin’ me out! That’s a pull from here! 21 cars is great, nice showing.

Thanks brother, maybe if you Beertech wussies promise to come to nat’s next year I’ll come…

A good weekend indeed. From the beginning I could see a pattern forming for myself; I was third in just about every session. I was pretty disappointed I couldn’t get around Jonny Drifto in the final race, but he played nice and defensive through the twisties and I couldn’t get a big enough run out of the keyhole to out-drag him. His car was so loose I thought for sure he would spin out a couple times this weekend (don’t worry, the videos are coming

MikeD did great this weekend as well with a smoking qualifying time on Saturday and I had fun racing with him all weekend. Also had some good time on track with Carter and Herrington in one of the practice sessions. It was great meeting the Ohio boys and I feel bad they had tough weekends on home soil.

Time to throw some more parts at the car and challenge Cobetto next year!

Done. We are definitely in for next year’s Nationals.

I heard a nasty rumor today that our long lost 3rd driver may even make an appearance early next season. . . stay tuned.

Congrats guys! I had a feeling that CC and Jonny would be 1-2. Glad to hear it was some good racin’. I would have traded my firstborn to be there, but I don’t have any kids yet…so no dice.

Any dyno’ing at the track? I’m curious to hear what the numbers were!

Once again - congrats guys!

From the video archives of Simon (I can out-brake you) Hunter comes the NASA nationals.

Thanks, Simon. Great racing.

Wow, you can really see how hard the brakes on mine were dragging in that video, my launch is almost comical. By the time I got it around the keyhole the rest of the field was at the end of the back straight. It got up to speed, sort of, and I even passed Pantas after his spin, but then it started stumbling in third so I had to retire it. Congrats to Chris!

I just watched all of Simon’s videos and M. Davidson’s as well. Great stuff and great driving.

Thanks for the excellent entertainment.

Finally got a chance to post after getting back home yesterday. The whole weekend was an awesome time and the racing was real good. Congrats to Chris, Jon and Skeen. Myself, Krshul and Kap had a few real good battles, I’ll post the video sometime soon. Aside from the ontrack fun, it was good meeting and hanging out with some more E30 guys. I’m already looking forward to next year.

Watching all of the videos posted looks like you guys had fun !
Great racing by everyone.
Simon - you can drive man ! great driving

Simon you need to post some pics of befrore and after

Had a great time meeting the SE30 group. Joe Woodward (#19) is driving my old KP car. He’s doing a good job leaning the ways of the BMW E30 chassis.

sean,Kap and myself had the best race. We gave the fans what they came to see. My videos show us in a heated battle for awhile, a little rubbin, alot of racing a generally a memory to keep.
Thanks Sean and Kap for the head to head.
