Nationals 2008
I thought we already had a national championship this year at Roebling with like 30 cars?

Mike won that one too.
Nationals is different. Its about quality not quantity B) .
(You should now feel a burning desire to come up to mid-o and prove me wrong)

Quote from Robert Allen:
Nationals is different. Its about quality not quantity B) So, you wanted to know why there is only one racer from the Southeast going to the Nationals? Looks like you’ve stumbled onto the answer—we’ll just send Skeen.

Regards, Robert Patton Oversight, Steve D is also going from the SE. He can serve as backup.Steve, good luck with the new spec e30 car.

#44

I feel honored to be mentioned in the same post as Mr. Skeen.

Mike - if you need anyone to carry your gear bag, maybe wash your windshield, it looks like I’m relegated to that position.

Got any MidOhio Traqmate files you would share with me so I don’t embarrass our Southeast brethren by being DFL?

Steve D.

#45

I didn’t have a traqmate last year, but I did borrow a G2X. I think I still have the data somewhere if you want to mess with it. You can have a look at the Traqmate files at the track though.

#46

Thanks, Mike. I will take you up on a peek at Traqmate data. What’s your favorite adult beverage?

Steve D.

PS - Who is running the Wednesday test day?

#47

I’m South-er and East-er than any other competitor in the mix, and based on the current forecast I’ll have plenty of wind at my back courtesy of Hurricane Ike to carry me to a surprise victory! That, or I’ll have a very wet car. Either way, we’ll have plenty of GRM decals to hand out, and we just announced our GRM contingency program. Be sure to stop by the tent for stickers if you don’t have 'em already. See you guys next Thursday,

Scott

Scott -

I thought about including you, but since you’re technically in NASA’s Florida (a/k/a Southern New York) region… And North Carolina is in the Mid-Atlantic? I’m so confused.:S

Good news is that you are the number 1 ranked Spec E30 driver from Florida participating at MidOhio, I believe.:cheer:

Steve D.

#49

NC is Southeast territory too.

#50

Confusing. I thought it was Mid Atlantic. Does MA get the Lowes races and SE get Rockingham?

I looked before posting, but couldn’t find a map of the NASA regions.

If we claim NC and FL, we represent 37% of the field. That sounds better than just Skeen and one unknown.

Steve D.

#51

Frankly, I’ll be super-excited if the car makes it through the weekend with no more surprise technical issues and takes me to a solid mid-pack finish. After last year’s brake drag-a-thon, it would be a refreshing improvement!

Steve D:
Good luck at Nationals! That’s a good lookin’ car you’re taking up there!

Sorry dude, can’t claim Florida… we’re our own region!

This is the best I can find on the regions: http://www.nasaproracing.com/aboutnasa/regions.html
You’d think it would make sense to have a map wouldn’t it?

Maybe we’ll make the tow from Tampa to nationals next year B)

Thanks, Fred. The car drove under its own power for the first time yesterday afternoon. If the stop-sign-to-stop-sign run in front of OPM is any indication, this thing is gonna be FUN!:woohoo:

The car hit rolled out of the shop for the first time 60 hours before test day. Plenty of time, right?

Good luck with your repairs.
RICHMOND, CA – September 8, 2008. Fans of the National Auto Sport Association will be able to view a live video feed of the racing action at the 2008 National Championships at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Speedcast Productions will be producing full-length videos of featured classes but will also offer a live picture of the front straight by streaming video via a satellite connection to a website.

NASA’s National Chairman Ryan Flaherty commented, “we offered live feed last year which was well utilized but bandwidth limitations degraded the clarity of the picture so we are using a satellite uplink which should enable us to send higher quality video.” Clark Cambern, Owner and President of Speedcast Productions said,” All of us here at Speedcast are excited to be working with NASA and its web savvy members. The NASA Championships will be the largest single event Speedcast has ever covered. We always strive to improve our capabilities and offering a live picture allows NASA fans to simply find a computer connected to the Internet and enjoy the racing.”

Live coverage will begin on Sunday, September 14th and you can catch the racing at Speedcasttv.com. Users will be required to create a login but viewing the video feed will be free.
This year Spec E30 will be one of the groups on the dvd!

Unrelated: have you guys been getting emails about spec miata contingency (free sunbelt motor, thousands of dollars from mazda and toyo, invitation to shootout for mx5, etc.)? Unbelievable. The stakes are so high for those guys.

#59

allenr wrote:

Well, for some of “those” guys. There’s about 60 of us in the “big show” just for fun.

The Sunbelt contingency is kind of funny. It is actually a “free refresh” for the top finishing Sunbelt. I think that deal was put together by last year’s winner (a friend of mine who also runs with Kinetic-Sunbelt in Grand Am). I think he plans on being the top Sunbelt finisher this year and he wanted a free refresh.

Steve D.

PS - The Toyo contingency for SE30 is actually more money per entrant than for SM ($2,000/19 drivers vs $4,000/65 entrants).
And it is cold, hard cash!

Do you guys disconnect your sway bars in the rain? If not, is it because you don’t think the rules permit it or is the car soft enough with the bars in place?

I don’t know if I am torturing the rules, but the bar is required. But it doesn’t say it has to be connected.

The end links from the bar manufacturer are permitted (i.e. not required) but I think the intent of that rule is to allow the replacement of the stock links.

I also think I need to get to a race track before I drive myself crazy.
