East Coast Championships thread.

On a separate note, is there still going to be a specific layout to the se30 compound? I received an email a few weeks back from Ranger asking about the size of our tow rigs, and haven’t heard an update yet… did i miss an email?

#62

If you haven’t read the whole thread, pls do so. My fabulous parking map got disseminated in an email from Carter to all SpecE30 participants. Remind me of your email address and I’ll forward Carter’s email to you.

I see over on the FB pages that spectating is not free, even for card-carrying NASA members. Anyone going who isn’t using all of their crew allowances (2) that is willing to share or sell a crew pass? I was planning to come both Saturday and Sunday.

#64

Welcome sir to the crew of Ranger 6.

#65

You are a fine American!

I’ll cover Laura. Wrist band will be waiting for her at Registration.

I just went back and reread the details of the Mazda Race of Champions. This is going to be hilarious. The winners of each NASA class from both E and W get an invite to race against each other in Miaters. That means a real head-to-head for low hp types vs. high hp types. Except that the race is in low hp cars so the high hp types will be on unfamiliar ground.

Low hp types have forged their ability to optimize turn exit speed in the white-hot fires of “get your ass kicked.” In contrast, judging from turn entry speeds, many high hp types perceive turn exit speed as “nice, but maybe I can compensate with $15k.”

Hopefully that race will get streamed or something.

Between Michael and I, we should have a few available. At least I know I only need one of my two. All yours if you need. Can’t speak for Michael.

#70

Scott, thanks, but save it.

Matt, Michael’s always mad at me for using the wrong name.

I think I’ve got the entry thing covered. So save your passes/pit crew thingees and make arrangements to give 'em to other SE30 racers on this forum.

I am pretty sure I will have an extra pass, contact me at wabmw25@aol.com if interested. Also I plan to park/paddock with yall, lots of folks have not seen an e30iC race car.

Thanks

Al

Im a little confused about crew credentials, how many do i get for free? And where do i sign them up at?

Thanks

  1. Registration (as you sign into the track and get your packet).

#74

Big thanks.

Everyone rec’d the email that the fuel issue has been formally decided, correct? We have to buy gas at the track. $5.50/gal. I figure I’ll need 8gal Friday night and 6gal Sat night. I probably won’t bother going out for the practices. 14gal is $77.

If it is E0 gas, that’s a premium of about 75cents/gal. The cost delta wouldn’t buy a 12pack of good beer.

#76

I never raced Nationals at our home track but I found practices to be a great time to learn my competitors as much as play with setup. YMMV.

#77

This all seems fairly childish. Are they going to drain my tank when I drive on property? Is enough you will pour the correct answer to the whole problem?

#78

“Lighten up, Francis.”

You will burn the remaining gas in your tank during practice. By the time qually rolls around, you will be using the track gas (presumably with tracer).

Or if you don’t go out for practice (wha?), use your handy test port to pump out your gas and save it for the drive home.

Lol, there is such a gulf between me and the serious competitors. I spend far more time planning what type of beer to bring to the event, then I do on the details of competitor unique-isms and my setup.

I didn’t mean to imply any real uber-competitive reconnaissance was happening during those sessions. I was mostly trying to figure out who the wildcards were so I could give them wide berth so as to survive the sessions leading up to the big race. It would suck to get punted in one of the qualifying races. Ask me how I know.
