Folks that signed up after mid-July, pls contact me at scott(at)gress(dot)org. That way I’ll be able to get the coordination emails to you that the other entrants rec’d.

We’re up to 39 now. Al K is going to sign up so that’s 40.

I’ll be on site Wed noonish and I’ll block off the Bier Garten area to keep rigs out. Carter has the largest of several shelters for the Bier Garten so it won’t be entirely set up until he arrives.

Don’t forget to bring your favorite videos on DVD.

We’re kind of a long ways away from driver’s meetings, etc. If you’ve been on the fence re. bringing a bike (a motorized toilet, cooler, etc) to an event, now’s the time.

Am I the only one that is ready to drink and wrestle? I’m going to grab ahold of that Mexican Sandro and drag him to the ground…again.

#43

Going on past experience and from Will’s note, we’ll be forced to use the controlled fuel at RA unless you want to risk being DQ’d. To make things easier, you’d want to go ahead and install a fuel sampling port. While I agree that it isn’t officially documented anywhere, this is how it is.

So let’s see…the rules in the CCR and Sups will not be followed? WTF???

#46

YES!!! The reason I left NASA was lack of rules enforcement!!!

#47

Chuck with all the tricks you know I figured that’s why you would have stayed! You going to visit us at nationals?

#48

No, headed to Brainerd Labor Day weekend so getting ready.

I dont have a fuel test port and was plan on bringing fuel down. There is no spec for fuel test sample in ccr so i do not know what to purchase. There are many different test port fittings available. Is there a guarantee that there will be fuel at the track and what octane rating? If thats the case do i need to have my tank empty before i get to the track to get my tank inspected?

BTW anyone looked at our test and tune run group 3? Over 60 cars! Groups 1,2 and 4 have about 30 in each. I posted on East Coast Championship forum yesterday but have not heard a response.

I would not sweat the fuel issue. Since there’s been no official guidance to the drivers, should NASA decide to control fuel in some way at the last minute, it will have to be gently done. There’s no way one can tell a couple hundred participants “install a fuel port” 48hrs before the event.

My guess is worst that could happen is that they direct us to buy fuel from the RA pumps. So if you bring a couple fuel jugs, you’re prepared for all contingencies.

#51

This is my take. I comply with the CCR and sups and spend the money to enter and get to the track. At the track the club says I have to pass a dyno number and have a fuel test port so fuel can be tested. I’m not going to be a happy camper.

#52

Correct. They will give you 3 weeks. :silly:

2011 Nationals - Fuel Test Port Announcement

If you want something to tech, make sure the test port feeds from the same line that the fuel rail does - not some handy reservoir that holds just enough pump gas for the test.

Everything old is new again.

SE30.com thread on test ports.

#54

I dont see anything in the rules that currently require a test port for the 2014 championship event.

#55

I love it, test port or 40sec penalty. I will be top 5.

Let me think up some more rules. Everyone has to have brand new left side sheet metal!

I heard that if you don’t run tires mounted by the approved onsite tire vendor you get a grid penalty.

#56

Man, you guys could make free hookers not fun. Just show up and have fun. I have some news for you guys. Fuel test ports and dynos will be for people sitting in the tech shed in the end, that means positions 1-4. I’m hoping but not really planning to be that guy, and I haven’t seen a one of you complaining about test ports or anything else likely to be chillin’ in that tech shed either.

Also, if you get ordered to a dyno, you don’t have to pay for it, NASA will pick that up for you.

Really fellas. Stop trying to make this not fun. We’re here to drink, tell lies, wrestle and race together. At the end someone will be crowned a winner. Its probably not you. Its probably not me.

#57

Fuel Sample Port is no big deal. I also race SCCA ITS and they require it.
I got one from Pegasus, cheap and easy to install. I put mine on the return line, very easy to get and use.

#58

I requested to Carter to eliminate the spec fuel requirement. If there is a hp limit, who really cares if you run some silly fuel to make 150hp? I suggest one or the other, but not both.

#59

As long as it’s been since fuel has been in those tanks at RA, there’s no telling how dirty it will be. I’m just gonna use that paint thinner Sandro makes us drink.

#60

Isn’t the only reason the rule was started is that Mid Ohio wanted to nickel and dime their customers. I see no reason to assume that it would automatically become a NASA rule.
