Overall, I think this is AWESOME news, and probably the first step towards eventual full national recognition of SpecE30 within the BMWCCA.
Regarding the racing regulations in NASA vs. BMWCCA, maybe I’m imagining this, but is it true that B is a bit more strict when it comes to car-to-car contact? Besides this, are there other significant differences between the racing experience in one club vs. the other?
SpecE30 in BMWCCA Club Races
BMWCCA uses the 13/13 rule. If you are the cause of any visual damage to another car, you will be just running for fun for the next 13 months(probation, no points). If while on Probation you are the cause agian, you will not be allowed to race at all for 13 months.
There are some more rules to it, but that is the highlights
the announcement said that if you run under CR as Spec E30, you don’t get any points anyway. If you run as KP/E30, you can get CR points.

(edit - realized later that it is on National points that you don’t get, you can still run for Regional points)

I guess the point I was trying to make is that 2 strikes and your out. You wont be allowed to race. From what I hear some Spece30 guys feel “Rubbn’ is racing”. I don’t think that will fly with BMW CR. So to Gilles question, I think they are more strict.

you can still earn points while on probation…if you get a 13/13 penalty, you lose any points you would have gotten that weekend and 20 points is deducted from your championship points total…
BMW CCA Club Racing Expands Classes - published: Dec 11, 2008
Greenville, SC (December 11, 2008) – BMW CCA Club Racing is delighted to announce that beginning in 2009 it will accept BMW race cars prepared to other sanctioning bodies’ class rules.

The real question is how we can get Al Taylor’s Democross and Firearms Spectacular (commonly referred to by its acronym ATFs) listed as a sanctioning body. The Heartbreaker (seen below) is a 13/13 waiting to happen though:
I think this is really good. A few years ago when I wanted to get into track days and eventually into racing, I went with a BMW because of the strong club support from the Golden Gate Chapter here. For a couple years I did CCA autocrosses and many of their track DE days with club racers as instructors several times. I really enjoyed the club comraderie and am now looking forward to the racing.
