Rear Shock

#1

Hey guys, FYI, I was the proud recipient of a brand new spece30 bistein rear shock before sundays race…it took about 8 minutes to take mine out and out put the new one in. My name was drawn out of the hat.

That’s what I was thinking…how long did it take Carter to write my name on 23 pieces of paper?

All joking aside, I think it’s a good way to keep everyone honest. Wonder who will get it at CMP…?

Why not trade shocks with the pole sitter and the last place car and see what happens? what fun that would make!

Okay, dem’s fightin’ words! I’d rather have to keep swapping shocks with the winner than doing major body work, Mr. Beertech! I hope you kick the curse at The Rock.

I know there is some disagreement on this issue but while I was meeting with Bilstein -and getting all the secrets to look for - they told me that the Sports do not wear out.

After Jon’s is dynoed I’ll share his, and all shock reports with the group.

any more thoughts on ‘sealing’ them instead of checking just one at a race?
thanks,
bruce

#14

Or "certifing" them? Like branded or serial number codes.
Is this effective in every region?
What if there is one or two drivers in a race? First event in Socal didn’t have any Spec e30 racers, I could’ve won my first points just cruising.

#15

"Certifying" anything sounds expensive.

#16

I would think they need a physical "seal" sticker (or whatever) of some sort to indicate that they have been opened up and possibly revalved. Just certifying them doesn’t control what happens after the certification step.
thanks,
bruce

Right. Certifying them is pointless if someone wants to cheat.

I was think about stamping them "Do Not Modify" (like "Do Not Copy" on a key) but that won’t stop anyone.

Sealing them would be tough to enforce because because people can copy a seal.

Knowing that you might get chosen, and you might get caught, is the most effective method, I’m thinking.

I think all those things you mention will deter cheating somewhat.

Hey Carter, just wondering, did Bilstein test and send my shock back yet?

Hey Jonny

If spec e30’s experience with Bilstein is anything like mine was, back in the day, your shock is lost, only to be found in 6 months when they will next day air it to you and charge your credit card $80.And then they still will not be able to tell you anything about your shock.

I wouldnt send my shocks to them to build cheaters if they paid me, Can we run Tokico’s???
