Pocono June 2-3

#1

Will anyone be at Pocono in the NE on June 2-3?

#2

I’ll be there. It’s less than 1.5 hours from my house, so it’s an easy drive for once.

#3

I’m within an hour and a half as well (Bucks County). I won’t have a car (just started building) but I’d like to stop by and see yours.

Bedminster (Rt. 113 & Elephant Rd.)
I’m relatively new to this forum, so I am not familiar with Jonny Allen. Should I be worried?

Awesome, good to hear that there are more cars on their way in the Northeast. Hopefully there will be other e30s there too, but either way stop on by.

Nice area. I grew up in Chalfont. Jon is in Upper Black Eddy, and yes, you should be worried:P :stuck_out_tongue:
Go to Zygmunt motors in D-Town…it is across the street from the Mercer Museum. They run Bimmerparts.com and are a sponsor of NASA MA. Tell Chris I sent you.

No $hit! Yep, I’m in Upper Black Eddy and my girl friend lives right off of Bucks Road a minute from your locale. We’ll have to drink a beer sometime. Yeah Zigglet is great for our sport, be sure to check out bimmerparts.com. Tell him Jonny Allen sent you.

Hey Bob, I think I know exactly where you live. You’ve got a white small bumper car in your driveway right along 113. Actually saw you working on it the other evening when I drove by. Small world.

PA guys, if Jonny Allen offers to help you out or share stories over a beer you’ll want to take him up on his offer. He is one of the best in our sport. If I’m not mistaken, he is the NASA GTS2 champion for 2006, and could well take the Spec E30 title later this year.

Regards, Robert Patton

:blush:Thanks Robert, you’re right there too. How about sharing a few of your secrets…

That’s the one. Next time you’re driving by stop in. I’ve usually got something on tap.

I would say it’s about 2.5 - 3 hours from dc to philadelphia and then about 1.5 to Pocono depending on traffic. Map Quest says 4 hours. You take the Pa turnpike / northeast extension and it’s not a bad ride. Pocono is a roval. There are many different track configurations allowing several clubs to run at the track on any given weekend. I’ve raced on the north course (fun/short), the south course (ok/short) and the IMSA long course(fun/fast). There also the east course and differing variations of the long course that are also available. Not sure what they are planning on running in June. All I’ll say is it certainly isn’t VIR, Summit or Mid Ohio. It’s in the Poconos and it’s an old school Nascar oval. It is a neat place and it is where I cut my teeth in the sport, so I do like getting back there once in a while.

Is the HPDE registration fee correct. $240 per day? So $480 for the weekend? If so why is it so much more than NASA Mid Altantic HPDE which run about $300 for the weekend?

I’ve heard the Northeast tracks may be more expensive to rent. These guys run/ran PDA driving schools and they’ve always been a little pricier, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Really??? You think dad has secrets? I can tell you this, he’s a one lap wonder. If it wasn’t for his qualifying, he’d be good, but not as good as he is. For some reason he can pull off a phenominal qualifying, where as I can’t do squat until the green flag drops. His secret is qualifying, not that that’s much of a secret.

 I love the daughterly support! You guys are the best. Robert, the cat’s out of the bag, you’ve been figured out. Maybe it’s an "ADD" issue, not being able to focus for more then 1 lap:whistle: I’ve always been a better racer then qualifier, but then I’m left handed, maybe that’s why? Hey, you guys need to make the hike up to Summit for h-fest, it’s gonna be a blast.

A Patton that races together, stays together. I would love to make it up there at some point. The harder part is convincing my "driver/crew chief" that we should go. He hates having to haul the two car hauler that far. I’ll keep working on him though. Hopefully we’ll make it up at some point.
