Since BMW CCA is allowing multi-classes in their CCA (So now Spec E30s can race as such; instead of being misplaced in KP due to lack of interior) Who is planning on being out there? Has anyone raced under Spec E30 within CCA yet?
O'Fest and Spec E30?
I’ve already made plans to attend O’fest. It doesn’t really matter to me if we have a special class. I expect that if we have a good showing that the folks at BMWCCA may recognize the group.
If only a handful show up you can’t blame them for just putting the cars in KP as the timing /scoring/tech/officials already have a full schedule.
Any one else planning to be there?

Yeah, he’ll be standing around the pit area with Montana wondering why Montana’s M3 continues to crap out engines and diffs. They’ll be cipherin on how much it’ll cost to fix the latest carnage.Moses will say “you coulda had a spec e30 (x times over) for what that will cost.”
Montana will acknowledge and admit that he could have equipped his buddy’s White and Randy with spec e30s and had his own race series.

For Montana it is sad, but true.
Dave, is all that horsepower really that much fun?
Back to topic…any others with the plan to do O’fest?
We could call out the MA guys, but their last VIR race is the following weekend.

I’ll be there anyway, running the Ofest show, so I’ll race. If we could talk Kelly into manning up and getting a CCA license he could race too but don’t count on it. He seems to have real “issues” with the graphics package. Or maybe it’s all BS. What’s the true story, Kelly?

it can be, unfortunately my car doesnt have much of it (i went from a 3.2 to a 2.8 last year)
I’ve bought all the decals in die-cut vinyl in the same color scheme as the rest of the car. Not that expensive. The decals will work out fine.
For as much that is made of decals, I can tell you it ain’t no big deal. My experience: The race director/tech guy gives you a package. Put about half of 'em on the side of the car that faces the audience, preferably the side rear window. Put the Tire Rack decal on the windshield with clear package tape.Remove when you get home. Repeat as necessary.
The BMWCCA folks WANT you to race. They’re great folks and will work with you.If you have to ask about decals, you have to get the corrrect response.
So, what I’m saying is that the decal thing is not a good excuse.Let’s go to O’fest!

Now if one has a CCA rookie license and races at a CCA event but under Spec E30; does the participant need to have a NASA license in order to be placed within the class? Does that question make any sense? :pinch:

You should be fine. Your license gets you on the track. Your car gets classed per what it is. In your case having a NASA license is irrelevant, since you already have a BMWCCA CR license.
John and I will be there too. (Looking forward to getting back to RA - the last time there was in '00 in a rental because I’d put the track car into a tire wall the weekend before. But that’s a different story).
It looks like we should have a good turnout.

Now how many times have I told you that

plus 1 on that…
I don’t think the quantity of cars really matters. At Winterfest we were registered as KP, but could have just as easily registered as SpecE30. As either the only KP or only SE30 it just didn’t matter (and I’ll take the KP points )

For 2008 to run the SpecE30/KP “consideration” you were just required to have a NASA logbook showing it was actually a SpecE30, not some crazy montage of classes you’re trying to pass off as a SE30. Now I haven’t gone over this year’s rules with a fine-tooth comb yet… but I can’t imagine it would be that different. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong) All you need is a trip to Rennen in Tampa and you can get your NASA logbook issued and CCA Annual in one stop.
