No smack talk for CMP? Come on...

#81

i can get there a little early and play parking cop if it’ll help. but if everyone is going to ignore the designated spot then i won’t bother.

#82

I personally like the new spot since it is close to pre-grid. I may change my mind in the summer when shade is at a premium, but its a good central spot.

Does anyone think it would help to have the registration folks make a point of telling DE guys where to park?

I was amazed last fall to see how much space those guys could occupy with floor mats and spare tires.

Unfortunately, I will arrive late Friday so I can’t help shoo away the riffraff.

#83

I’ll email Chuck Taylor and Robert Patton and ask for a command decision. If they decide to attempt to make the new plan work, then those of us that get there relatively early can be parking nazi’s.

#84

I sent something to Pantas about this. See what he says, because it doesn’t really matter what Patton or I say about parking. Personally, I’m in favor of it. Hanging out together is definitely part of our experience. We’re the largest race class in NASA-SE and also one of the few who actually care to park together (most of us anyway) which makes it a sticky situation.

You guys all play nice at CMP this weekend, and for gosh sakes, don’t try to go 3-4 wide into T1 again!

#85

I talked to Jim about this a couple months ago. He didn’t come right out and say it, but my perception is that he has enough alligators to keep under control at an event that the issue of parking is not a crisis. He’s sympathetic but I think that he’s weighing the customers that he’d annoy because they set up before the NASA truck got there vs. my whining about a SpecE30 pure zone.

My sugggestion would be to ask the CMP office to make a 200 copies of the parking map and have the guard shack hand it out. Then the guard looks each of them each in their beady little eyes and tells them “be sure to park in your area”. That will probably get us an 80% solution which is all that’s worth trying for.

#86

Unfortunately, it’ll probably be full by the time most people arrive. Everybody wants to be there in front of the track. Not really sure why, bu it’s the way it goes.

#87

I generally park wherever the hell I want to,which is usually away from the crowd (DE’ers Etc.) The last thing I want to hear is someone asking me to move because his buddy is coming in, all the parking maps have ever done is agitate people…“well the map says i am supposed to park here” The map never has enough space for all the Spec e30’s, I suggest just parking near the clean bathrooms…

I am all for having the Spec e30’s together, as I like a party, but I aint playing trailer rodeo.

just my 3 cents…

Al

will not be at CMP…still out west

#88

Jim P said he’d give it some extra attention, so you should probably try to park where the map says you should and see how it goes. If there are interlopers, feel free to rain down a ration of crap every time one of them passes w/in earshot.

A low of 22deg for the weekend. You might want to put some oil in your coolant like I’m doing.

I knew my car could do something right! It came like that from Travis.

Hey all,
I have emailed the major offenders and created two signs that say “SpecE30 Only” - I’ll make sure they end up in your area. I would suggest you designate someone to be the paddock police and I’ll be more than happy to give them a GMRS radio to communicate with us should a situation get out of hand. I would HIGHLY suggest that someone get there early and troll for interlopers. Remember though - you are sharing that area w/GTS cars as well.

Unfortunately we are usually a little too busy to police the paddock, we even had folks camp in our false grid in Nov and refused to move!

If you can think of a better place to put the SpecE30 drivers then let me know, I would highly suggest 1/2 of you get garages and share them, that way you can squeeze two(2) to a garage and not have to worry about frost, dew, etc. Just a thought

Okay, I’ll bite. If water and oil don’t mix, how does this help? Seems like you would end up with a block of ice with a pool of oil on top.

I realize you now have 4 gallons of gently used oil in the garage, but…

Now if we could only get a tent…

(Sorry - been hanging around Robinson too much.)

Seriously - Thanks Jim! That’s great. I bet it will help!

Lol. I was kidding. My coolant has a little oil in it. I’m hoping that it’s just residual from last week when they were mixing. I tried and failed to motivate myself to run a batch of radiator flush thru it last night.

I got yelled at last night because I “only care about the damned race car”. What real defense did I have?

Re. Parking. Wife permitting, I’ll get there by 10AM, park per Jim’s plan and try to execute the parking control officer mission. But you guys need to come park next to me. Don’t leave me hanging out there all alone.

Have you guys seen the latest forecast for Friday? Rain starting at noon, temp dropping to 33 with snow starting at 3:00. As much as I was looking forward to being there, I think I’ll save my stuff for the next race.

Please note, although no boardcode and smiley buttons are shown, they are still useable

Gasman, Travis is making “the sign” right now.

You guys have fun…be safe. See you next month.
