Is your reference to “eta” an intentional pun?

My modest proposal is that
7.5.1. Cars may be painted any color(s).
should read

I sure hope the rules changes are coming out soon. Our first race of 2010 is in 9 weeks and poor FLA only has something like 4 or 5…

Group:

These things always take longer that I think they should. But I do not want to rush it.

Having the support of the Spec E30 Regional Series Directors has been, as usual, extremely helpful.

But even with their help, it takes a while for us to discuss what needs attention (much of which is based on suggestions from the drivers)and to get it all organized.

I submitted the 2010 Spec E30 Rules to NASA National this past Friday and they should be published soon. NASA had a few minor questions but we got those issues settled so I expect to see the rules posted on the NASA National website soon. After that, they are “official” and we will post them here on the Spec E30 site.

As always, rules stability is a core Spec E30 value, but I can submit a change to NASA anytime, if a significant error is discovered.

Personnaly, I probably won’t make any changes to my car and it should be just as competitive in 2010 as it was in 2009. We want the drivers to know that spending money to reduce lap times is not the goal of Spec E30. Fun, close, and low-cost racing are Spec E30’s main goals.

I appreciate everyone’s patience (I know of one NASA class that is still working on their 2010 rules) and I’m sure we will have another season of great Spec E30 racing. My last race of the 2009 season, in October, was one of the most entertaining races of my 19 years as an amateur racer.

And we will continue to look for ways to improve our racers’ experiences both on the track, and off, and we appreciate any feedback from the drivers. Talk with, or email your Spec E30 Regional Series Director anytime.

I want to personally wish a Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to everyone in the Spec E30 community.

Carter Hunt
Spec E30 National Series Director

I just posted a detailed comparison to last year’s rules in the “Official clarifications …” thread.
cheers,

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a big THANK YOU to all of those involved with the rules set for 2010. Minimal changes keep all of the old-timers happy. Thoughtful tweaks help us build and refine cars to maintain the low-cost component of Spec E30.

Thanks again, Robert Patton

Bruce, thanks for the yellow hi-lites…makes it easy to see what is new.

Three cheers for simplifying the camber adjustment in the front and rear. With flimsy 2 or 3 screws holding the plates in the front (because of interference with the towers), and the stupid nuts that would come loose in the rear and the adjustment wiggle or,worse yet, the suspension flop around, the rules now make it safer for all of us to adjust the car’s camber and toe at both the front and rear.

I have a couple of sets of rear camber/toe brackets if anyone needs them. I would also recommend AKG for arm bushings as I have been using the same set for 5 years without wear/problems. Chuck
