Lap Record Correction

#1

I found that Chris Cobetto turned a 1:29.008 in 2006 - second fastest at Summit:

Also, Carter Hunt’s 1:29.411 was in 2005 here:
http://www.nasaracing.net/Summit_Sept_05/results/R%20Autobahn%20092405.html

Not that I was researching or anything … I
plan on running some 1:35’s - so no need to bring fresh tires.

Does one have to finish a race in order for a record to count? At Road Atlanta I turned a 1:46.684 (5th fastest) before DNFing.

Thanks, I’ll get it updated.

Michael,
I would think you’re number would count. From the NASA CCR:

21.7 Lap Record
A lap record will only become official when the NASA office publishes it with as the
“Official Lap Record. A lap record will only be valid when set during a race. A lap
record set with a vehicle that has been found illegal in impound for that race, will not stand.

You set the time during a race, and your car was not found illegal, so it should stand - that’s just my take on it.

those cmp numbers make my 2:07.5 in the pace car look pretty bad

HAHA - Don’t worry Sean, next time, I’ll bump-draft you into the kink.

Simon, sorry to keep correcting (and this one wasn’t correctly documented in the official results) but the Keith Smith CMP time of 1:58.000 was actually driven by Brandon Smith (Keith’s son).

Oh thanks a lot VIC!!! I really appreciate you pointing that out! I wasn’t going to say anything unless Brandon caught on! Surely you have something else to do rather than steal my moment of glory!

No, perfectly ok, I’d much prefer to have them correct. I’ll make the change.

Sorry Keith! Next time, just add a few hundred pounds to Brandon’s car and we won’t have this problem!!!
