Konig wheel sponsorship

Has anyone had any luck?? There forms make me want to end it all, thus negating the need to use any of their fine products…Seriously the most cumbersome thiong I have ever seen, is it just me? Whoever designed it must have retired from the government.

Holy Crap

I am so pissed at trying to download/fill out forms/return that I did not even edit my post… Their forms, thing…

Sorry, I did graduate from the 4th grade

mmmmmm blondes…

anyway, this is funny to me and Ill share why. Out of the Beer Tech crew, JP is usually the one to get screwed on ordering parts. It just so happens in this instance, he filled out the form and had the wheels the very next week…all new and shiny like. It makes perfect sense! I havent ordered mine yet but expect a lengthy delay when I do.

Update

They emailed me a different form, and it was designed to be printed and filled out and mailed, BUT the instructions specifically say to email. The design has blanks beside each ? so when you type it in the blanks move thus making a mess of the form, also they do not ask for quantity of wheels, I guess they assume everyone wants 10? I did it anyway and attached it to an email. They also want ALL your credit card info, including code from the back of the card, billing address, this is in an unsecured, wireless email…doesn’t seem very professional or safe. Anyway, I got a reply saying they had left me a phone message. The message didnt answer any of my questions but hopefully I can talk to them on Monday. I need the wheels by VIR and have been trying to get them for over a week. With the time spent I could have just ordered some wheel and paid for them.

Al,

Did you get the form I sent you, or did they send you another one?

I agree it seems shady, but I’ve got 4 beautiful rims in the garage to prove that it isn’t!

I just sent the application in via email Sat and am awaiting a reply. I’m hoping to see some rims in the garage before Rockingham. I’ll let ya know if and when they show up.

It certainly sounds like a good deal but the provisions require you to really have two sets of their wheels if you are running slicks and also want to have a set of rain tires. I believe the requirements are that no other wheel is to be used on the sponsored car. Am I reading that correctly?

#9

I doubt it seening as they were very clear that it was for all NASA members, not just racers.

That is what the sponsorship agreement says…JP, you better just sell the wheels to me. Ill give you $40 each…they are used.:stuck_out_tongue:

You can have any wheels you want, as long as you have the Konig stickers on the car. You couldn’t buy three sets anyways since they limit to 10 wheels.
I’ll be getting a set, not my fav style, but it’s a great deal.

Here’s a quote from the Konig program release: "All products and decals must remain on vehicle for entire race season."
Products means the wheels, so you can’t use any other type. My question is how can they monitor or enforce this? Once you buy the wheels at the discount, what is to keep you from running them on a street vehicle for example & using some other brand at the track. (I would not do this! - just wondering if I missed some enforcement or penalty thing).

You guys are WAY over analyzing this!

They offered the discount to non-racers as well. It is open to all NASA members.

What are they going to do, repo the wheels that I paid for?!

Since this thread has gone bonkers already, I’ll throw in a tongue-in-cheek response.

Technically, you can buy as many as you want, just only 10 at the discount. :silly:

Well, after my "encounter" with Konig, I won’t recommend this program to any fellow NASA drivers/racers/members.
I asked a very simple question, "which offset for my car since I don’t know", and they’ve been patronizing me since then, like the offer is for "racers" and 99% of them "know" the wheel specs. I guess since I’m just a "driver" and don’t know wheel specs I don’t "qualify" for the offer, and I can cancel my order anytime, what gives?

#16

I really don’t see how you guys are making it this hard. This is a GREAT program. The wheels are so cheap its unbelievable. Even if it comes with some grief, who cares, its $380 shipped to your door!

Jeez, they try and help out club level racers and all I hear is complaining.

I love the wheels and the program, and I’m not just saying this because I’m "sponsored"

In case anyone is wondering, the wheel specs are:

15 X 7
~15 lbs.
et20
4X100
the wheels come from Konig with a centering ring as well to fit the 56.1cm centerbore.

It’s not hard, I just don’t know, care to know the wheel specs, that’s why they are the wheels’ manufaturer.
The price is the only reason I’m taking their "crap". I wish I knew the specs before contacting them.
They don’t have the hubcentric rings, and I have to order them from an outside source since I wasn’t even given to option to wait until they have more. How do you like that?
If you are "sponsored" by them, then you should tell them to be kinder when answering questions and not talk back and patronize customers.
Let’s see when they arrive, they said two weeks.

The sponsored comment was an apparently sad attempt at humor. I paid for my rims just like you did.

The backspacing was listed on the order page. It really is something you should know about your car though.

Please keep in mind that Konig is a supplier, i.e. they may not deal with customers directly often.

I talked to a Konig rep Monday, he told me it would be 2 weeks, they had much more demand than anticipated, he also said it may be hard to get 5 wheels…he said they sold them in sets of 4…well I like to have a spare mounted up, I guess that is strange…I am looking forward to getting the wheels, I like the style, I hope nobody stole my info off the net.

odd that they say you can only buy 10, but then are surprised when somebody wants 5.
