All Patton's Fault!

#1

I’m about as new as they come to the Spec E30 world and it is mostly Patton’s fault. The last time I saw him he bent my good arm waaay back behind my ear and told me I needed to go Spec E30 racing. So yesterday I made a deal for a car. Thanks Robert. This is going to be fun. Now, what theme? Hmmmmm…:woohoo:

If we keep keep signing up all these Southeast boys we aren’t gonna have room for the Mid Atlantic boys to come play with us. Hell they are probably scared anyway:P

I wondered how many entrys it would take for Spec e30 to get its own run group at an event. I see the spring VIR event as the big one.

#4

He tends to do that…

#5

that would take about 35 cars according to my Nasa Reg Dir

We’re close – we had 22 Mid-Atlantic drivers and 11 SE drivers last season…

Jeff, welcome to the e30 racing community. Since you’ve gone public with your car purchase, I can prod you into getting the car built. So… since we talked on Monday night, what progress have you made??? Picked the car up yet? Ordererd springs? Ordered shocks? Ordered sway bars? Ordered suspension goodies? Stripped the interior? Come on, lets get started. Heck, Chuck Taylor and I (mostly Chuck, as I did lots of stupor-vising) dropped the bad engine out of Mike Skeen’s rolling chassis yesterday in a record time of 2:10 minutes. As we discussed, your project should be easy. Let me know of your progress and we’ll get the cages done at the same time. Regards, Robert (pushing for more cars on the SE grid) Patton

Oh yeah, the theme for your car… Since it is that pretty cirrus blue it should be the Care Bear car. All you need are some of those Ronal Bear wheels. I swear, if someone will find me a set of them, I’ll make a Care Bear car if Jeff doesn’t beat me to the grid. Regards, Robert (always good for a laugh) Patton

Dad,

You’re such a goob.

As for my thoughts on a car, I would love to see a "student driver" car. I think it would be a hoot to see the tradition Tagarts Driver’s School car out on track.

Just a thought.

Also, does anyone know when the 1st VIR event for 2007 will be?

Thanks,

Laura

Robert, I’ll be picking up the car this weekend and getting started. I’ll have your number on speed dial. D*mn the checkbook, full speed ahead! Schedule the cage.

Okay, Laura Patton…So you want to get into a name calling contest? You started it, so I’ll just say you’re a bigger GOOBER. There, I said it, so it is. Seriously, it will be great to have both Jeff and Mike Skeen join the SE racers this year. You can’t help but like Jeff’s attitute regarding the checkbook, so here we go. Jeff’s car is too nice to be a student driver car. You really need a core car with multiple color fenders to be a student driver. S. Cullens car would be a good starter for that project. Have fun, Robert Patton

are you and laura coming up for the enduro this year?

Mike, NASA SE just called and they have signed-on for Roebling Road that same weekend. So, as much as it would be fun to race at VIR, we will be at RR. Besides, VIR is a long haul and the enduro is a non-points event (excuses are easy to make up). RR will serve as the debuit of several new SE racers and should prove to be an exciting event for us. I’ll push to get Jeff Puras as well as Mike Skeen to be there. And, I’m sure that there will be others that will use the RR event as their start with NASA racing. We will work with our regional guy, David Cullen, to revise the points system in the SE so that new racers in the SE can get their points started for the season. It will be a fun 2007. Regards, Robert Patton

Does this mean you don’t run the full course at VIR in July? I probably won’t come if it isn’t the full course. Not sure we will have the car finished by Feb.

I just got home from picking up my car. We took the senic route home and went by Road Atlanta. I love that little tickle I get in my stomach right there at that little rise before the track comes into view. That’s a good thing. Now we even have a date. Roebling end of Feb right? Here we go!! The last time I raced there I had my IMSA Spirit at a HSR vintage event I think it was. I’m looking forward to giving it a go in something completely different.

I don’t blame you for not coming. We are definately coming to road atlanta sometime next season to dice it up with you guys. Sounds like you will have a decent amount of spec e30’s racing down there this season!
