WTB: gas pedal

Mine broke at Shenandoah. Does anyone have one for sale?

Thanks,

So I guess I’m not the only one that stands on the pedal trying to get the car to go faster! A Miata racer told me he actually warped the floorboard pushing the pedal down.

Where did it brake? Mine snapped where it hinges with the floor at a race last fall - I fixed it with a metal cabinet-door-type hinge from Home Depot, two bolts through the "broken" pedal and two bolts through the floor. Works fine, easy to find, costs ~ $2, and I’m sure it’s stronger than the OEM pedal hinge. Just a thought…

Yup, damn thing wouldn’t go any faster!

Mine broke at the hinge too.

If I can’t find a new pedal, I’ll try the Home Depot fix.

Thanks

Another tip for those of you with the stock pedal.

All it does is clip to the floor with a plastic tab. A sheet metal screw through the metal bracket and into the pedal will keep it in place.

Nothing worse than having your pedal come out at the wrong time and jam/ stop working!!!

yeah, the plastic tab on my pedal snapped off.

Wouldn’t this screw the pedal to the floor?

Sorry, I had a flashback to the Toyota(?) commercials where they show "innovative" ways to get their drivers to go faster - dropping a T-rex egg in the passenger window, playing opera music until the driver can hit a laptime, etc… Screwing the pedal to the floor would work too.

Screw through horizontally through the little square box on the floor pan into the plastic tab, locking it into place.

Ric -
Mike has a heavy (and big!) foot - must be working.

I bought a cheap-o set of OMP pedal covers from CDOC, ostensibly for grip and heel-toe – I guess an added benefit is that it keeps the accelerator in one piece.

There is a little metal tab welded to the floor pan and the base of the accelerator pedal slips over the tab. The pedal can break or the tab will rust off.
