With $4K in my pocket.....

…any chance I can find a running Spec e30 for sale?

Although I know buying a race car, already built, makes much more financial sense than building a car from scratch, it comes down to having the sizeable chunk of change to plunk down on said race car all at once, or building a car piece by piece as funds roll in.

I’d like to give myself the off-season to thoroughly go through a cheap car, or build a race car - which is why I’m looking to buy right now.

I have a some friends running in Spec E30 - which is why I post my question here - and wouldn’t mind joining them in the mele’ - I mean fun. If I go the build-a-race-car route, it will probably be something else - perhaps GTS.

Thoughts, insight, input and any links to those $4000 race cars - are appreciated.

double it to $8k and you might get lucky on low-balling someone that needs to unload a car.

I have a good solid shell for 400.00.

It was 6.5K + $800 shipping. It is for sale in its current state for $7300. Otherwise I’m going to finish it, race it and it will be for sale for around $10K. Worst case it is my back up car :).

JP, are you thinking you’ll come back some day in the forseeable future, or is this ‘no mas’ for a longtime to come?

Dang, we’re going to have to appoint a new designated cheater. Anybody interested in the job?

I’m out of racing for a good while. We just bought a house and are working on kids. I’ll come back eventually, but its going to be awhile. I’m hoping to continue to go to the occasional DE or crew for BTR. Keep me in mind if you guys need instructors.

I can’t hang in the arms race now with the “RacerX” mentality that Craig, Jim, and Travis have adopted. Since they couldn’t beat me on talent all year, all three have gone out with open wallets to buy their way around me. So far its yet to work…Keeps spending guys, one day you’ll be faster!

Says the guy that built the first motor…

Thanks for clearing up who is running the JP household!:stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, [JP’s wife], tell JP I said hi (since I know you took away his SE30 privileges too and posted this on his behalf). And there’s no reason to sell his car in December, put the For Sale sign on it now… Why wait?

FYI: ‘Not it’ as the winner of the first annual “JP Coates Cheater Award” in 2009. I think Robinson will be taking that honor.

I’ll put it next to sixth place, third place, and second place trophies.

D@mmit Skeen leave already.

We should get a new t-shirt made?

Everybody knows (except JP’s wife…) that you cant sell a race car in Dec. I think he is just smokescreening her…

Maybe you could trade it straight up for some “huggies”.

I may could sell the red car with the 132hp motor for $4k, Hell, it won an enduro and placed on the overall podium at least once…

I love how you skirt the issue that the third and second place trophies are actually James Clays (when he won them using your car).

My victories as team owner are just as important to DTOMracing. As are my sprint podiums.
