Windshield Banner as Sunshade

#1

A question for those who use a large windshield banner as a Sunshade…

How long and how deep is your sunshade?

All depends on how high your seat it and how tall you are. When in doubt go low with the base vinyl and then trim up (long metal ruler comes in handy) once you get on track. Save the overlaid graphic until you’ve got the base where you want it.

My banner is 11 1/2" measured from the center of the windshield. However, I sit very low in the car…my seat is less than 1/2" from the rear floorboard. Start with that measurement and you can always trim the bottom. Also note, your rear view mirror should be at the same height as the bottom (bottom to bottom) of the banner so you don’t have to move your head so much to check the morrow. CB

I have a windshield banner for a sun shade but setting the level is arbitrary at best. You will never get to the perfect spot because you will never will be able to get to how you would adjust a visor in your daily driver where sometimes it’s up and sometimes it’s all the way down.

I have my banner set so that the sun is not streaming in all the time but early morning or late evening I make up for it with a piece of tape across my face shield. Then it’s just a matter of tilting my head when driving directly in to the sun.

Thanks guys, I have something coming - I like the tape on the visor idea too… I have mounted the seat within a gnats hair of the floor - but I am 6’3" so while I am low I am not as low as some… The sun shines hot out in in California, anything to reduce the retina burn and the sun on the head during the ride home (still street legal).
