Why We Race: Mustang Challenge

#1

Has anyone seen the shows? I got a chance to watch the three episodes yesterday.

Although the show was interesting to watch, I was struck by how many ‘racing incidents’ they were having through out the series.

I am not sure what to rules were to participate in the series (besides having money) but it seemed like there were fairly bad race drivers in the mix.

I caught the last episode over the weekend and had the same impression you did. That series isn’t cheap to race. The problems seem to associated with a few drivers taking their over inflated egos out on the track. Obviously they don’t mind bending up a car for a $5.00 trophy.

What channel? Didn’t notice a show by that name on SpeedTV.

#4

It was speed.

If you want to see REALLY bad driving and a waste of serious cash, watch the VW TDI Cup racing, also on Speed. These kids actually think the idea of racing means running into other people! I’ve seen less wrecking at Demo Derby’s!

Yep, Why We Race is pretty weak but at least it’s not Livin’ the Low Life or Wrecks!

I think Why We Race is actually on one of the other High Def channels, not Speed.

oh, there is nothing on Speed… It’s dead right now.

Try Discovery or HD Theater channel.

On speed yesterday there was a Year in Review for Grand Am. It is on my DVR hope to watch it tonight.

Yeah, Speed has gone from only showing races in a circle to only showing ones in a straight line. Not sure where they can go from there!

The Mustang Challenge stuff is on Discovery HD. It’s good footage of amateur racing, but yes it is amazing how bad some of those guys are.

I miss V8 supercars :frowning:

V8 Supertaxis

Footage available online from BigPond Video - www.bigpond.com - but not from the race coverage, only in car. A lot of it is also available on YouTube.

I was stunned to see how those guys were driving. Makes me appreciate all of you guys that much more…

As for SPEED. It is really sad to see where their programing has gone. The are the MTV of the automotive world. At this rate they aren’t going to have a single race on. What happened to all the good racing? I was ready to sit down on Christmas day and watch racing. remember the days when they would have a full day of Run Offs… now it crap… a single viewing of Low Life or Unique Rides is more than enough :S but a full day??? I understand they have to pay the bills. But do they have to sell out? Sad…

It’s definitely frustrating to have some of the programming that is on SPEED, but if you have a DVR, I’d say it’s tolerable. They still have lots of good stuff out there, you just have to search for it, record it, and keep a stash to watch whenever you’re looking for TV. It is a shame, but such is life.

once… I DVR’d a Koni race and I ended up with world of out laws. If it had been a pimp my ride show, I would have driven down to Charlotte to talk to somebody

Yea, DVR helps a lot. I just signed up for Discovery HD on Directv.

On Directv there is a horse racing channel at about 602. Seems every time I go to Speed I see “Racing” up there and have to check if it’s still just horse racing. Which makes me wonder - if a channel can entirely support itself on horse racing, why can’t it support itself on road racing?

Have you guys seen this website? It’s called Race Fan TV…a guy out of Canada runs it and it provides a pretty good up-to-date TV listing of a lot of different racing events.
