Who going to the Glen?

Hi all. As an aspiring SpecE30 driver for the 2008 season I am taking my partially prepared E30 up to Watkins Glen for the HDPE on the 13th.

It would be great to meet any of you who are racing or doing DE. Is anyone going to be up there.

Hi John. There will be a few of us up there next weekend. There should be at least two of us racing and then a couple of people who will be doing DE also. Should be a fun weekend, I’ll keep an eye out for you and say hi.

How far along are you with your build?

I’ll be there at my first race in #62. Got the Rookie License out at Mid Ohio just before the Nats. I’m sure the 944’s need a back marker…

Hey Sean and Christian.

Look forward to meeting you both. I live locally and I will do the DE on Sat. My car is a white 1988 with orange stripes on the headlights. I tow it behind a green range rover. As to the build:

I purchased the car abandoned with a solid body but blown engine. Its not pretty, I focused on making it steer and brake and getting seat time.

I have completely rebuilt the suspension the Spec E30 kit and eurethane bushings at all points, ireland sway bars, control arms, tie rod ends adjustable top mounts etc.

Found a motor that appeared recently overhauled and installed it with new radiator, clutch, guibo, centre bearing, eurethane mounts, H&R short shift etc.

Brakes SS lines Porterfield R4 pads. Running RA1s on Kezera’s

Delete sunroof cassette and most interior. Install seats (momos) and FIA harnesses - using harness bar and momo steering wheel.

Thats about it. So far I’ve had a blast driving it. Ive had it out this year for 10 days on the track, including the BMWCCA race school.

Over winter I plan to get a cage installed and to finish the remaining bits and pieces.
