I hope that’s "tongue in cheek" comment, but…
Well yeah, I don’t see any other way as long as I have to drive to the track. A glass-pack for a muffler just isn’t going to cut it.
I realize this would only affect a very small number of racers, but it would be a really big deal for them. Not only in the work required at the track but also in the logistical challenge in getting the spec exhaust to the track.
The proposed spec exhaust, as I understand it, isn’t going to be acceptable in any state that does inspections or emissions testing, so those folks would have to have two complete exhausts from the headers back. I think the proposed rule would deter anyone wanting to get into Spec E30 racing that couldn’t trailer to the track. And it would certainly impose an unfair burden on those folks.
Part of the attraction for me to build to Spec E30 rules were that they permitted the car to remain street legal (if barely). While I hope to be able to trailer to/from the track next season, that’s not a certainty and until that happens the car will have to remain street legal.
