NAPA VALLEY, CA The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the introduction of the new NASA Central Region. The new region will focus on the central U.S. including the states of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas and will include track weekends at Motorsports Park Hastings, Mid America Motorplex, Heartland Park, Iowa Speedway, and the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit among others as the region grows.

Matt Rivard (L) and Todd Smith ® – The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the introduction of the new NASA Central Region.
The Central Region will be headed by Todd Smith and Matt Rivard as Regional Directors. Both Todd and Matt have been involved in regional and national club racing for many years and have strong professional backgrounds, Todd as a technology business owner and Matt as a dental surgeon. Natives of the Kansas City and St. Louis areas, Todd got his racing start with the NASA Mid-Atlantic Region through HPDE and the Porsche 944 Cup series before relocating back to the KC area where he started racing with SCCA in the absence of a local NASA region, and Matt got his racing start with SCCA and Porsche Club events and has been a regular on the SCCA circuit for the past several years.
“With five tracks already within easy driving distance, and plans for at least three more to open by 2012, we believe the central U.S. area holds a lot of potential to become a thriving NASA region,” commented Todd Smith.

“We are excited to bring the NASA experience to the central states area and will be holding our inaugural weekend event at the first class facilities of Motorsports Park Hastings on Memorial Day weekend,” added Matt Rivard.

John Lindsey, NASA’s Chief Divisional Director, stated, “Establishing our new Central Region is yet another step in making sure enthusiasts all over the nation have a chance to experience a NASA event. We are delighted to have Todd and Matt joining us and we look forward to some great events with them in 2011 and beyond.”

More information and details on the NASA Central Region and their 2011 schedule can be found online soon at www.drivenasa.com/central and any questions can be directed to Todd Smith or Matt Rivard.

Thank you god.
I’ll have my Spece30 finished up this winter AND I’ll have a place to play.
Hopefully the new NASA region will attract other SPECe30’s although I don’t anticipate it will happen overnight.

I hope the additional regions turns into more drivers, but I don’t see quite how that works. The alternative is further diffusion of the drivers we do have.

NAPA VALLEY, CA The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the introduction of the new NASA Savannah Region. The new region will focus on the city of Savannah including the neighborhoods of Ardsley Park, Wilmington Island, Downtown and Southside, and will include track weekends at Hutchinson Island, Oglethorpe Speedway, and River Street.

The Savannah Region will be headed by Ranger and Rackeu as Regional Directors…

Seriously tho, best of luck to them. I hope drivers come out of the woodwork and make it succeed. Everyone benefits from greater participation.

I’m moving to the Kansas City area this summer and this new region will offer racing within 50 miles!!!

Re watering down our existing regions. I hope not, but it seems that racing venues are lacking in the middle of the country. New regions should attract more racers.

Who is thinking about racing with NASA Central next year? From what I understand, we’ll be racing at:

*Heartland Park - Topeka, Kansas
*Mid America Motorplex - Omaha, Nebraska
*Motorsport Park Hastings - Hastings, Nebraska
*Hallett Motor Racing Circuit - Hallett, Oklahoma (I believe they will crossover with Mid South Region)
*Gateway - Saint Louis, MO (closed by should re-open next year)
*Kansas Speedway - KC, Kansas (they are building a road course in 2012 for use starting in 2013)

Please chime in if you are building a car, or already have a car, and where you are from. I’d like to touch base with any potential racers in the region.

I’ll start…

Rich Bratton: Car #71 - Lansing, KS (until the Army moves me again)
