Whats it worth?

Hey guys, not exactly spec e30 related because the car isnt exactly a spec e30 car but any idea what my 87 325is with a full cage, seat, harnesses, ground control coilovers, bilstiens, recent head, (nasa logbooked, gts1 legal) etc etc etc would be worth? Its not a show car but it dosent look aweful either, somone is interested in buying it and I really have no idea what to ask. 5?
Thanks

This is a post on a similar topic…

[color=#0000FF]That’s a good question and I’ve often wondered the same thing. I have seen e30’s on the BMWCCA racecar classifieds go for some decent money.

http://www.bmwccaclubracing.com/static/forsale/forsale.htm

Since I sold my 944 Racecar and helped Dave P. sell his, I know that the racecar market place doesn’t work like regular used car sales and values can vary widely. Price would depend largely on the level of preparation that goes into the car, its overall condition, engine condition (freshness), aesthetics and finding someone knowledgeable enough in race cars to recognize its value/worth.

I think a good rule of thumb for selling a racecar is to price it about 3/4 of what it would cost to build. I think that’s a good starting place for an asking price. Good value for buyer and reasonable depreciation for the seller.

In E30 terms, my car has cost me about $13-14k total including, parts, labor, tires/wheels etc. It’s in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition (knock-on-wood)…….So if I were to sell it, I’d probably ask somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,500, and be patient since it would probably take a while to sell. (There is a butt for every seat)

why don’t you have it listed in the Classifieds?

I’ll go ahead and list mine in the classifieds as well, and mention it here since i already started the thread. I’ll take 5500 for it (it has a current log book) the biggest issue keeping it from being spec e30 legal is that it has coilovers on it, not the h & r race springs. Swap those, take out the chip, M30 afm and 19lb injectors and add some sawys and it should be good to go. I bet that selling those goodies would pretty much cover the cost. Email me if interested nahuston@ncsu.edu for all the details and pics are available. Nick

Must have come off the classifieds.

I’ll relist it.

Actually I need to just do a web page for it.

basically it is an 87 325i 4 door (get over it you 2 door lovers!) with everything you need.

Low miles (wasn’t driven since 97 and odo stopped around that time at 75K)

Fun car.

Trying to do more family oriented stuff. Bought a 35 ft sailboat.

Still plan on running car every once in a while if it doesn’t sell.

Just hard to justify a 3-4 weekend a year toy so I thought I’d offer it up to get someone on track who’d use it more. I can always build another one.

Ric

P.S. I’d trade the spec E30 for a similar priced sporty street car, or a BMW motorcycle.

P.SS. Just did a gallery for it: http://spece30.com/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=48&catid=10
