We'll start a "next year" thread later...

As Mr Patton said in the RA thread…Next year…

Who is a new comer and in for next year?

I will ( outside of unexpected circumstances ) be attending Comp school at RA in March…So hopefully racing with you all from then on…

Who else is coming up / joining the SE spec e30 crowd?

:woohoo: :woohoo:

I will be at CMP in Feb. and hoping to finish two races without incident so I can get my full license. Also planning on doing the first RA event in March.

Been a tough year and wasn’t the plan at the start…

Better late than never… Keep an eye on your mirrors

I will be joining the group next year, but will be doing mostly HPDE’s at first. I should have the car ready for the first event in February.

Aside from Stoops that was at the Toy Run, John Clark will be joining McSpick Racing (two Irish and a Mexican, lol) he is building a white 325is, he’ll be at Comp School in March

#7

They’re going to be slower than you tho, right? It’s kind of demoralizing for some newb to jump in the class and immediately start kicking ass.

#8

We’ve all been around the sport for a while, mostly DE’s, Stoops has done a bunch of Global Time Attack, John has run DE’s for about 8yrs. There’s other 2 guys who eventually will join us, just waiting for the spring jitters to kick in. Can’t wait for next season.

there’s 4 of us at RA… they are ditching their GT3’s for 20 yr old BMW’s… gotta love it!!!

#9

I just about spit my lunch all over my desk.:woohoo:

#10

Matt, Sandro and the group need t-shirts and some kinda theme for their cars…think a big golden arch decal or some Ronald McSpick caracter on the hood.

What say you, Sandro?

Jon, Forrest, Paul welcome to the race series.

Thanks Rp, just went through the sign up…

Put down to rent a transponder as I do not have one and need to see what that is about. Signed up for three events so far to get Jim’s discount…

Who has the “horror” stories to share with Comp school?

#12

Re. comp school.

  1. Jim Pantas only allows folks into the school that seem to be ready for it. So you either need to convince Jim that you are ready, or convince someone that he trusts to vouch for you.

  2. Read all the applicable sections of the NASA CCR. Read the subtlties of actions on various flags, passing rules, etc. over and over again until you know them like the back of your hand. Focus on the subtleties of the flag and passing rules that no one ever mentioned in your DE classrooms. The BMWCCA Regs have an appendix that goes into details discussing different passing and “fault”…that’s worth studying also. I found the BMWCCA CR appendix to be very helpful.

  3. If you’ve done your homework above, the in-class discussions aren’t likely to add a lot. Those that haven’t done their homework will certainly not leave the class with the same level of understanding that you have (because you studied). That is to say, there’s a lot to cover for the classroom time allotted and there is limited time spent on those aforementioned subtleties.

  4. You’ll have some on track exercises to help you get more comfortable with having other cars at close quarters, having to get thru corners fast when you have only half a track width to deal with, and some practice starts.

  5. There will be assistant instructors out there to make your life more difficult. They will put some pressure on you to see if you keep your cool, and they will contest some turns with you to see how you handle being forced to improvise your plan for a turn.

  6. You won’t get points for being the fastest, but you don’t want to appear slow, tentative, and over-cautious either. You need to be smooth, predictable, and unexciteable. Don’t hit anyone and don’t go off track.

That’s comp school for the SE. Each region kind of does their own thing. I only know the SE and MidAtl schools.

Thanks Ranger…Very helpfull…

Hmm…Would that be a 6 pack or a case this time of year? :woohoo:

I will look through my Christmas List for a gullable candidate…

Oh, and don’t change your rear shocks just before comp school and leave off the little bushing/washer thingies that prevent them from punching up through the shock mounts.
