We'll start a "next year" thread later...

I hope to be joining you guys sometime late in 2013 or early 2014. I should be passed over to DE4 at CMP and keep working until comp school. I have built two Spec E30’s over the last 6 months. One for me, and one for my son. Just picked up another one that I may build as a Chump car.

Fred, did you do that?

Ryan, good to have you joining us.

Oh, and don’t change your rear shocks just before comp school and leave off the little bushing/washer thingies that prevent them from punching up through the shock mounts.[/quote]

Fred and I tend to find the hard way to do anything. In the bare seconds between classroom sessions and track sessions he was desperately trying to unscrew the fact that his rear shocks were punching thru his sheetmetal. Meanwhile, not 10’ away, I was desperately trying to change out red hot brake pads because my “mystery pads” had turned out to be a very bad idea. I damned near t-boned an instructor when he squeaked in front of me in a braking zone and my hot mystery pads gave up. It took years before those burn scars faded.

Lol, the good old days.

The avatar for the #31 McSpick racing could pass for about 1/3 of the people in the paddock, mostly AI and TR drivers though…

Wendy’s told me I’m not allowed to require any emergency surgery in 2013, so I’ll definitely be out there more next year than this year. Welcome to the all the newcomers starting up next year. It’s a great series to run and a great group around the paddock.

Car #168 is definitely looking dejected in the garage after being benched for most of this year. I know I missed a number of rookies joining in this year as well. Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to know you both on and off the track. I’m easy to spot in the green and yellow car off in the grass

Be sure to give me a heads up before your first event next year. I ended up with some “John Deer” metric wrenches. It’s not a full set, but go get some cheap HF wrenches and I’ll swap you size for size.

Not only did I do that, but I was literally on my way to find a machine shop in Kershaw when some guy with a big black trailer showed up and had just the part I needed. I believe his name was Patton or something like that…

Okay, I guess I remember. It has been a while. However, Scott Clement has taken the role of helpfullness one or two notches higher.

So, lesson to the new guys, it is a helpful paddock. I think we’ve all been a part of the giving side—and that is a cool thing.
