VIR this weekend

#1

The DriveGear crew will be pulling into VIR Thursday night at some point. We will be setting up camp with the Bennett Racing Team Ferrari F430. This will be our first weekend of racing with the newly Setup Grand Am GT F430. We will also be racing in Spec e30. For those coming down lets try and setup a Spec E30 area. We will be camping out so we will host the camp fire/BBQ/party Friday and Saturday nights. Any firewood contribution = a free beer!!

Davidsons will be rolling in about 7 pm on Friday - will bring some firewood.

Ed, send us some race reports.

Thanks in advance, Robert

Looks like less than .5 second covered the top three finishers according to Mylaps. How was the race and weather?

#12

Several new names to the Spec e30 roster.

Mylaps shows three packs of 3/3/2 racers that finished in their respective packs of cars separated by .5 seconds in each pack.
Looks like some good racing, as is the norm, in the MA region

Yes it was the north course on Sunday, great fun. It was a terrific weekend for racing. the Weather was fantastic, got cold at night for us campers but the Spec E30 guys all contributed lots of fire wood and we kept warm. Great to see a couple of new guys and all the familar faces. Jon put the Drive-gear.com rental #87 upfront all weekend. Would have taken both races if not for some brain/brake fade in turn 1 on Saturday. Looking forward to next time!!

Robert,

Mylaps tells most of the story. The front runners were dicing it up quite a bit, but I didnt’t get to see much of it being a back marker most of the weekend. Mike was in the lead a few times, and leading the race on the last lap on Saturday, but got passed on the back straight when Jonny and Chris hooked up the draft to pass him at the top of roller coaster. On Sunday Mike and Chris were side by side dicing for the lead in the lower S’s, and Mike went off track losing a couple of positions. He managed to get back to P# at the end of the race.

For me, it was good to get back after a year and half of not having a running car. My first race in the new car in October was cut short by a broken rocker arm in the first race of the weekend that we decided not to replace at the track (#1 exhaust). With a freshened head, now ready for a full year.

Hope to see some of the SE folks in VA in March.
