Here’s some context… MY side of the story

-69 was later disqualified for some reason.

-He (69) finished about 9 seconds behind the nearest person in front of him. He finished about 19 second in front of the nearest person behind him. In other words, he wasn’t near any of his competitors.

-I (168) finished 1 second behind you (241)

-I am not going to roll over to a guy in a faster car unless he gets in the proper position to do so (his front wheel next to my door) He never got in this position or even close.

-I think it was red mist that lead him to believe that that was a wise place to pass me. I think it is clear that both of us would have been faster had he chosen to wait until the straight to pass me.

Jens, it is clear by watching the video how quickly I gained on you and would have passed you if you hadn’t chopped me off.
Your quote from after the race " I’m not gonna give it to you, if you want it you gotta earn it" The only thing I have to earn is to catch the leader in my group and if I can’t I didn’t earn it.
My fastest lap was 8.5 sec. faster than yours and I passed alot of cars during this race, many of them in the same spot.I didn’t have a problem with any of them, except you. I did notice by following this thread though, that I am not the only one YOU had problems with, even among your own comrads.
Let’s be considerate and courteous towards each other. The price money is not that great.
You might have passed me had I let you by, but that’s not how it works. I drive my line until, according to the rules I race by, you get your wheel next to my door. Then I give you racing room. I understand that in 944 rules that any overlap between the cars gets you racing room. This may be some soruce of the dispute.

Don’t go spreading misinformation about any incidents I had with my comrades. There’s no pattern there to build your case on, and they’ve been resolved (I think).

I’m sorry I pissed you off. It wasn’t my intention.

No problem Jens, we will be seeing each other alot this year and it should be joyful and fun for all of us. We all (incl. me) can see things slightly different than the next guy in the heat of the moment. All of us have different interpretations of what should have been. That means we all need to be even more aware and not take things for granted.
See you at CMP.

Jens:

You are correct that there is a difference in the 944 passing rules, but is not the source of the dispute between you and Karl.

While you and Karl differ on where u think his frt wheel was, think the issue really goes back to Eric’s initial post about letting faster lapping cars out of class go thru, as was discussed in the VIR driver meeting Saturday morning. Doesn’t appear you agree with that approach, i.e. "I’m not going to roll over", and that difference is more the source of this dispute. And , maybe the Autobahn Race Directors need to discuss the subject further and decide how to handle this interclass issue for future races.

It was discussed, but I remember it differently. Maybe the two of us should discuss it off line:

Here’s my phone number: 540-364-1660

ANYBODY who wants to discuss racing matters with me (pertaining to me) can call me.

I think this message board thing only stirs up anger and if we talked face to face or over the phone, everybody will realize sooner that we’re (or at least I’m) not a complete asshole. (I’m only 36 percent asshole)

Jens, the message board is good because there may be other people out there thinking as you are. Reading it online helps educate others thinking the same way. Our races are usually containing cars from several different classes. It is important to remember the different classes can help you win your race against people in your own class. Give and take is a very good thing. We aren’t racing the other classes, we are racing each other. It is important to remember that.
