VIR enduro 2/18-19

#1

Who’s going?

Are you guys doing the sprint race as well as the enduro?

And the money question… will my rear brakes last all 3 hours considering they crapped out after four sprint races at Summit?

#2

Brain in #105 for the race
Dave P. in #167
We’ll split Car #105 for the Enduro

#3

Han, I highly suggest starting with a brand new set of Hawk pads at the start of the enduro…

Team Green will be racing car 33.

Drivers: Carlton
Driver 2: Carter

So it looks like the only question left is who will get second! :)))

Brain… missed you on saturday as I went to VIR on sunday. I heard saturday was a mess, Sunday was great, by about 3:00pm I think I ran for over 30 minutes without seeing another car on the track.

Carlton,

I think that Team "Fly Navy" / "DP Motorwerks" will give you guys a run for your money!! I’m inclinded to talk some "smack" since it’s in my nature, but we’ll see how the race goes:).

Carter,

Question…since the enduro is not a points race is there any requirement that we meet the spec rules weight of 2750 lbs after the checkered flag. The NASA Enduro CCR’s 3.3 don’t do a very good job of explaining.

Here’s why I ask…

  1. If the answer is NO then assuming a 9 Gal/hr fuel burn rate it is possible to do the race on one stop

  2. If the answer is YES then a 2 Stop strategy is required with the second pit stop coming about 45 min from the end.

thx

Brain and all:

Any NASA sprint race is a points race and all Spec E30 cars are expected to be in compliance. I hear there might be two sprint races in at the NASA MA Feb event so they will both count as points races.

Regarding the enduro, we are not technically Spec E30 cars (we’ll be classified in an enduro class) and I don’t know about the minimum weight. If they don’t have a minimum weight, there won’t be one. It’s all up to the enduro officials.

I’ll try to get an answer and will post it here.

NASA Mid Atlantic and the National NASA enduro team class our cars based on the regular series rules.

Therefore, and to be fair to the other cars in our class, all Spec E30 Rules apply. Last year, Daniel and David Herrington won our enduro class so we should have a good chance at several good finishes.

Famous quote from an unknown driver at a drivers meeting…

"So which of you sum bitches is finishing second today?"

Seriously, it looks like the enduro competition is going to be strong. I predict that we’ll see some great racing.

Hopefully, I’ll be attending the Comp School on Friday (if Chris gives me the okay), but I don’t think I’ll be able to stick around for the weekend (big plans, already, for Saturday night).

#11

Carter,

Roger that…all spec E30 cars must finish at or above the minimum wieght of 2750 lbs at the end of the enduro.

Looks like a 2 or maybe 3 stop strategy for all the E30’s

Brain,
The car looks great!!

#13

Who’s else is going to field a car. So far I’ve got:

Brain and Dave in Car #105

and

Carlton and Carter in the green machine

there has to be more than 4drivers/2 cars for the enduro

#14

I only see Brain and Forrest registered so far

#15

You can count Vic, Alex, and Han as well…just not registered yet.

#16

I plan on running the enduro, and I can say right now that I have just started building the car, so make your bet’s

I also plan on driving it solo…

A lot depends on how long it takes me to recover from New Years Eve.

Can I use a frozen pig head for ballast? I have a lot of them laying around.

If all goes well Daniel and I will be there to show the rest of you how it is done! Of course that assumes that we get our blown engine and bent rear subframe replaced and our cracked frame rail reinforced. It has been a busy Christmas!

#18

David,

Dave Pallister has an extra M20 engine I’m sure he’d sell you

Carter - I have forgotten, were we classed as E1 or E2 for the Enduro?
