Jason, any stories to tell?
Race results, other than Al was P5 and Grace P1 (congratulations to both as a top five at Mid Atlantic is a good race day).

awesome…

you’ve got a great camera/mirror setup. Makes for some of the most watchable in-car video. Thanks for sharing.

what camera are you using?

i won $50 from travis by just barely beating him to the finish on sat. he retaliated by making me think i could crash at his place, but i ended up sleeping in the truck. not sufficiently dehydrated from the day’s events, jonny allen lorded over the grill for two hours sat night and cooked up a ton of awesome chicken wings for everyone to enjoy, naturally we returned the favor by chucking the bones at his car. the last two hours of the night were spent in the pool which must have been at least 90 deg. evan knocked out an emergency cooling hose replacement ten minutes before sunday’s qualifying session, al and travis probably would have helped but they hadn’t arrived at the track yet. my contact lens popped out on the first lap of the sun race, drove with one eye for a few laps but eventually lost it in hogpen. al goes banzai on the lower esses on the opening lap and evan made a gutsy pass on the gts2 porsche at the top of the esses, i got good video of both. lots of great support from family and friends, and each other. the fast MA guys are untouchable, maybe there is something to be said for having a well prepared car and getting plenty of rest but it just doesn’t seem right.

thanks, it’s a standard apitek a-hd+ with a wide angle lens, homemade support bracket, and custom wiring so it’ll run off the vehicle electrical system. the mic gain is a tad high so the sound could be better but it’s good enough that i don’t sweat it.

Man I can’t wait to watch the video when I get home today. Your videos are definitely my favorite to watch.

Watching that video makes you realize that VIR is a world class track. The work they did on the surface last winter really helped the grip in turns 1 and 2 and even though the pavement is now 12-13 years old, it still does not eat tires. A race at VIR probably takes 50% less tire than CMP…or even Charlotte. Going into turn one with 20 other spec e30’s, there is not much to match that in racing.

Great video

Just finished the first video. Man the bump drafting on the first two laps and the thumbs up from Jones was great. Then you blow by him in the straight on the next lap. The love tap after the flag and your laughing was hilarious as well. That car seemed to come out of nowhere to hunt you down in those last few corners.

What a great weekend at the track. Some of the most fun on track action Ive ever had. Great, close racing with B. Hey, T-Bone Wilson, Dr. Herrington, Evan, Tower and lots of others. Good clean racing at a fantastic venue. The off track action was miselable. Oppressive heat all weekend kept the shenanigans during the day to a minimum and I had to escape to the air conditioned hotel at night so no pool stories here.

Travis tried his best to crash me and Tower but failed on both counts. I was glued to Travis’ bumper for the first half of Sunday’s race until I was able to make the pass stick in Oak Tree as he picked the wrong line behind a 911 that dropped the anchor. He retired early, I lost my drafting partner and Tower hunted me down.

Late in the race we were three wide into T1 with a slow 944 and a very slow Spec 3 car. I got stuck on the outside with the 944 and both of us slid off track as we were pushed into the marbles. Took a lap or two to get the tires back and by that time Herrington had caught up. We had a good battle for 3 or 4 laps. The best part was when we got side by side in T4 and continued side by side until the turn in at Hogpen. As we came out of oak tree it was a drag race to the top of the hill. All the way down the straight we were squeezing each other over to get position for roller coaster. We both go late on the brakes into roller coaster and I thought I would have him since I was on the inside and my plan was to out brake him and grab second gear leaving him in the dust as I drove down the hill. Seemed he had the same plan, grabbed second and we stayed side by side all the way into turn in for hog pen. I was on the inside and he finally conceeded the position and we got back in line down the front straight. That was awesome! Very close but just enough racing room from both of us to make it work.

Great weekend but HOT!

Not sure when Ill be back on track, definitely missing RA in August. VIR was too much heat, cant do that again for a while. AMP in October doesnt look good and the baby is due the weekend of CMP in November. December is my best shot but we will see how it goes.

Great to see everyone again, good luck in Aug.

Thanks for your’s Jason. They were excellent.

Did anyone get any video of the Jones v Herrington battle. That sounded awesome.

I have some video but it is pretty boring to be honest, winning from pole makes for an excellent weekend but really lame video!

Robert, from the pole to the finish line is a great accomplishment.

Not to mention finishing ahead of Cobetto and other hotshoes in the MA region. Give us some history on your racing experience.
Also, who finished in P2-4?

Jason, I’m sure the video of my lapping you at CMP will be great.

Patton, Thanks. I ran HPDEs all of 2008 and then got my license that October. Last year was my rookie season racing; I ran a full MA season, tried not to hit anyone, and took a lot of notes! This is my second season racing and I have been trying to real in Cobetto.

Robert, amazing, simply amazing. Come see us sometime at a SE race. We’ll roll out the welcome mat.

Wait…so are you saying I should go pro too? Sounds like more my style anyway, crashing cars is expected there right?

Congrats to R Grace for the dominating performance both days. Somebody forgot to tell him that when it’s that hot outside the lap times are supposed to be slower. B)
