Very nice!!!

Don’t know if I’d post a video where I tag someone in the rear end…Hitting other drivers in ‘club racing’ is poor form.

Well I posted the video for others to see, I apologized to chris after the race and he said it actually helped him get around the car in front of him. It is still racing and racing incidents do happen. I do know it is bad form and felt bad about it. Bottom line is I made a mistake :frowning:

That’s a good attitude to have…any paint swapping in club racing is a mistake. I will say however,…I don’t buy the argument that racing incidents just happen. On rare occasions when extenuating unforeseen circumstances such as oil on track or mechanical failure can result in ‘blameless’ contact…those are "racing incidents" Two perfectly good cars on a perfectly good track hitting each other is someone’s fault.

As the recipient of three ‘on track incidents’ (2 in 944 cup and 1 with a wide body M3 spinning backwards into me) I have posted several times stressing the importance of clean = fun racing. Let me tell you the cost associated with fixing unnecessary damage (time & money) takes all the fun out of racing. Recurring contact between competitors scares away potential new drivers and reflects poorly on the reputation of the Spec E30 series as a whole.

In fact, one of the main reasons I left the 944 Cup series and came over to Spec E30 was the unprofessional driving by some of the 944 guys and the superb reputation of the drivers then associated with Spec e30.

I understand that it’s easy for some to have a caviler attitude towards on track contact, but after it happens to you…and you write a few big checks, miss a few race weekends and spend hours on your back in the garage needlessly repairing damage and that’ll change……trust me I know.

Fun, Fast and Clean is the only way the series will grow and attract more competitors.

The following thread also has some good info worth digesting.

I made a mistake and I do care. I understand the consequences to there fullest extent. Nobody really saw it as a big deal because it was bumper to bumper with no damage to either car except for my headlight which all four got shattered when I went off following vic and a ton of rocks went through them. I have seen how 944 cup racers drive and how it looks like bumper cars and I don’t think this little tap comes close to the severity of most 944 metal-metal contacts. However, I apologized to chris and was willing to except the consequences for my actions. I am out to win for sure, but I try my hardest to win racing clean. That is my main concern! Other than the tiny tap I think this video shows how close the competition really is and I think if someone that wants to join spec e30 watches it they will enjoy it.

Thats a great video, Thanks for posting it. I definitely dont like the contact but the video does show the good, close racing and I enjoyed it. Obviously it was an accident and luckily no real damage came from it.

Thanks all for the compliments, and at VIR i hope to have zero contact to further promote spec e30 and it’s clean racing intentions. I really like racing with the whole group and i intend to do it in a clean fashion.

p.s. brain thank you for the link

Great video. I’m very impressed with your improvement during the race. My car is almost finished and I’m hoping to race for the first time at Road Atlanta in August with my buddy Damion. Brain, I hope you are right about contact during the race. I sure don’t need another job or another way to spend money.

Am I missing something… where’s the video? I would love to have a look since Brandon and I were both under the weather and were not able to attend.

Thanks.

My guess is that since the video became self incriminating evidence showing contact between several cars that it was removed. It’s too bad because otherwise it was a great race video to watch.

Well that is what I thought happened but I was informed that that was not the case. In the future however I will refrain from posting videos with anything that my be questionable. I have re-posted the video on the first page it doesn’t really matter now that everyone has already seen it. Enjoy
