Valvegate concluded/Steve Lako is UUC DOY

#1

Wow, ran out of title space, what is the UUC DOY?

UUC is a valued supplier of all kinds of BMW parts (and other makes and models, they make all things performance)and they have helped racers here in the SE with paddock support. They were able to make it to most of our events last year. Next year we’ll see more of them at the track.

DOY means driver of the year. Steve Lako is our SE DOY. In our minds he is/was the East Coast Nationals champion. ( Okay, co-champion, Sandro also make a stop at the DQ/ Dairy Queen and drove his tail off in the race to go from last to third…then first.)

We had a racer meeting on Saturday to bring the valvegate discussion to a close. Briefly,
there was a large group of series directors and such who looked at valves, part numbers, shiney valves, part numbers, parts availability, more valves, blah, blah, blah. Proposals were presented to NASA to reach a compromise, blah, blah, blah. It did not work out. What did work out were rules changes that you’ll see for next year to remove ambiguities.

The sorid details do not matter, what does matter is that he is OUR Driver of the Year.

(How is that for condensing pages and pages and hours and hours of BS into five paragraphs. Steve you have all of our support.

Congratulations, Steve Lako.

Congrats Lako!

Congrats.

Thanks to UUC for honoring Lako in this way. He ran incredibly hard during the Nationals event and to have it stolen away in the manner in which it did had to be very hard to swallow. Congrats Champ!

You can’t make this stuff up, folks. I assume DOY stands for “Deacon of Youthgroup”.

Congrats, buddy!

Eric, Chris, Ryan, Steve, thanks for the support!
Lots of others were vocal in congratulating Lako at our banquet.

It is a shame that common sense is not so common any more.

I want to sincerely thank all you fellow racers who make this all worth while. If it wasn’t for the off track comradery, I don’t know if I would be racing in this series. Special thanks to Robert Patton and Scott Gress for how they support our group in more ways than we know.
Arjun and UUC has made an awesome Trophy for all of us to battle over for seasons to come. Im honored to hold it for 2014. Thank you UUC for your support.
As you all know, to make a run at the championship a lot has to come together. A solid car, good support and some racing luck is a start. Scott Clements, David Walsh and myself wanted to get someone on the Podium from Group3racing and worked over the 2014 Season making sure the three cars would be capable. The entire weekend, until tech, went as hoped for me and if it wasn’t for a broken brake line and rocker both Walsh and Mckay would have been in contention. I appreciate Scott and David for sharing the good and bad.
It is great to see the group grow with great talent and hope we all keep in mind the things that make this series fun. Lets not complicate the rules nor ruin the fun.
Cheers, Lako
Now lets all get together and figure out how to slow down the Mexican jumping been for 2015. :woohoo:
