Tube Frame Seats

I am looking at getting a seat finally, and can’t seem to make up my mind. All the seats I like are Tube frame seats. What exactly is a tube frame seat? and what are the advantages or disadvantages.

I haven’t sat in a tube frame seat that I found comfortable. I also wouldn’t trust them as much in a crash as a composite/FIA approved seat.

Most of the tube frame seats I am looking at are FIA approved.

I had a Corbeau in my last car, and it’s now a passenger seat in the BMW. It’s heavy, and not nearly as comfortable as my fiberglass Sparco. Also, when I had it apart to install the back brace I was underwhelmed with it for strength. My .02
