What do you think is the best course for my transmission problem. I have the problem with 3rd gear. Sometimes I can’t get it in 3rd gear and I have to come to an almost stop to get in 3rd. This happens just about once per session. Stopping on the track really isn’t ideal. Since I’m taking out the tranny do I replace with a another used but unknown condition or get it rebuilt. I really don’t want to put the same transmission back in only to take it back out later on.

better get a used unit, I think $300 is about the going rate, I do not know of anyone rebuilding them except maybe Blanton in KC…

Al is right - get a used unit. I’ve had a Blanton rebuild and it great but $$$$. Check your local used parts lots, if no luck, I have a spare I would be willing to part with.

Off topic but slightly related, anyone know of a place that sells the replacement parts for the trans besides the dealer. I’ve only been able to find bearings, I was more interested in some where I could get new or even upgraded syncros/block rings. I have access to a large press to get the case apart and a spare getrag 260 with a bad 4th gear blocking ring I wanted to attempt a DIY rebuild on.
