I stopped by a local tire shop today to check some prices on tire for next year. They told me that Toyo tire prices are going to go up about 30% in a few months.:ohmy: something about new tariffs put on products coming from Asia? Any one hear any thing about this? If this is true, I plan on buying some tires before the increase.

yes, the US is imposing new tariffs on tires from China. Very dumb IMO. So much for free trade:

While this tariff is a reality, Toyo RA-1’s are made in Japan, not china. 
Seriously though, there is an increase expected in 2010.

phew! i still think the tariff is stupid though. so, is the increase driven solely by the fact that the USD is in the crapper? when is this increase expected to happen?
I use to run a warehouse for Am-Pac Tire Dist. and tire prices are going up due to this and the average increase is around 15% across the board no matter what type it is. Prices should have started to go up on Nov. 2nd.
