it went great.
we had 3 spec cars (AJ, Ryan J and myself) and three others in the paddock group.
Weather couldn’t be better.
I hope to get to the next event in april early and reserve us a larger area for the spece30 group.
Let me know if you are thinking of coming so i can plan for what space we will need.
Oh ya i got my provisional finally and raced both days.
I posted pics in the gallery for all to see.

Steve’s too modest to say, but Motormuncher is now our first Spec E30 winner of the year in Norcal! (round of applause can be heard in the background…)

I couldn’t do it justice describing from the sideline, but it was an awesome race to watch. His car looks great and runs strong, and he hung well with the RX-7s and Miatas, and at one point late in the race was part of a 4 car pack in T-11 (a very tight 90* left hander) and took two positions on a 944 and a Miata - I couldn’t help cheering from the fence.

Good weather, good bbq, good times.

Where are the results? I need to update the lap records. Thanks.

Thanks Igor for the link.
I was actualy logging on to Mylaps.com to get the info for ya guys when i was booted off.
I would like to thank Walter www.valleymotorwerks.com for all his help in promoting the growth of Norcal spece30.
It was great to finally get to meet AJ and have a fellow spece30 racer to chat with.
I look forward in building on the group in the next several months.
Also please let me know what space you need at the event in april as i am going in early to save space in the paddock.

+1 for Walter Ford @ Valley Motorwerks - he has been a huge help in my car development. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the vote of support guys… I wish I could have been there, but I do have a secret video recorded by a top notch CIA spy, Scott Neville.

It is here:

Guys,

Sorry to do this but the Thunderhill (with bypass) SpecE30 lap record belongs to Auston Harris. It was set Sunday Sept 12, 2005 at 2:13.030. This can be verified through MyLaps, NorCal NASA listing.

Auston is a hot shoe, I believe he drove one of the C&D BMW diesels, Steve you’re in good company.

Next time out your car will have good tires, swaybars and an LSD! IMO 2 seconds are well within sight…

I was in that Group A race with Austin Harris…first time I had seen a Spec E30 car. He had a nice clean looking white 325is. Seeing his car put a bug in my mind that this would be a cool class to get into after GTI-Cup. Now I’m looking for a donor car to build!!

This particular race was one of the best races I’ve ever been in. About half way through the race Austin happened to get mixed up with me and three other GTI-Cup cars all slugging it out for 1st position. Since he was the lone Spec E30 out there and realized he was in the middle of a heated class battle he graciously pulled into the hot pits to let us go on our way which was very cool I thought. Our GTI-Cup race stayed close until the very end…after 30 minutes of racing…the time differential for the GTIs between 1st place and 4th place was 3.5 seconds. I’m looking forward to similar close battles for SpecE30!

For grins here’s a video clip of the last three laps….Joe Craven is in the orange GTI, Don Bailey in the white one, the camera is in my car and Carlos Suarez is in the yellow/blue GTI. Austin had pulled off by this point in the video.
