p.s. the starting position that I stated in the video isn’t right. I’m not sure where I started. I guess it was something like 18th.

Man, that is awesome to that many e30s at the start.:woohoo:

Mike your car has some serious giddyup down the straights.

#3

Are you flat-shifting? It seems the tacho bounces up when you shift.

I had some good runs out of oak tree and hog pen. I was on freshly shaved tires with one heat cycle on them. We haven’t done anything to the motor since we got it from rick except change the exhaust and adjust the valves. We do run platinum plugs though :woohoo:

no lift shits. Actually I lift to about 3/4 throttle when I shift.

Great video! WOW your car was absolutely blowing past folks on the front and back straights! Are you sure that wasn’t the car that dyno’d at 196ft/lb torque! Awesome drive. You must have passed 6 cars before turn 1!

Thanks keith, you seemed to have a great drive as well! I was really impressed with the entire spec E30 class. Everyone drove fast and clean. I’m not sure what happened with the contact on saturday.

I’m really excited to see the series going in the right direction.

I still don’t know how cobetto ran a 2:36.909 in the rain. That is really quick! In comparison me and carter were close the entire race and I ran a 2:39.93 and he ran a 2:38.22. Maybe I was holding carter up a little bit

Thanks for sharing that was great to see all those cars. Nice job in the rain also.

And I never broke the seal except to adjust the valves, put a water pump on and a timing belt.

That is a less than 80000 mile motor for you!!

Great video!!!

Great to see all the cars at the start. I hope OH/IN can grow to that level. Great drive and that motor sure had some power.

For the cars I passed at the start. I didn’t lift from the time I saw the green flag to turn one. I maybe lifted to half throttle when I split down the middle but…The car does look pretty fast when the cars in front are lifting at the kink. Carter was behind me for the entire race and I wasn’t walking away from him down the straights.

Thanks all for the compliments and yes we do have a strong motor but I thought I did a pretty good job of driving as well.

That was a great bit of driving. It takes skill and knowledge of your car to out drive and out brake those guys, specially like you did starting around 3:30-4:45.

My favorite is your little green key ring tag.

Thank you and yea I need to get rid of that key ring haha.

I was not discounting your driving ability. You did a great job. Looks like it is going to be a great season for Spec E30

The season looks like it’s going to be alot of fun!

That was some nice driving. I thought about blocking you and taking the middle on the start but then I thought…why delay the enevitable!

Seriously though, nice work, and a great run off of the start. By the time I saw you, you were 4-5 lengths back and charging hard. Too late!

Thanks alot. I’m still mad the only time i’ve gotten to race VIR full was in the rain haha.

I also have some footage from comp school, if anyone would like to see it I can try and upload it.

#19

I would like to see some of the Comp School/

In all fairness, Mike had the perfect tires for the conditions. 4/32nds new. And while he was a bit quick on the throttle at the start, he drove past the new guys exactly like I did in the Comp School practice start. The newbies were being cautious…which is exactly as they should have raced.

After he got it stopped when passing me at turn one (I knew he was going off and gave him plenty of room on-purpose) I thought he was going to drive away…which he did. After I saw that there was more grip, I stepped-up my game and reduced his 75-yard lead to 2 feet by the checker. And if I can catch him with my pathetic engine, he doesn’t have a cheater motor.
