Carlton Goldthwaite
Carter Hunt
Sean Curran
Ben Thomsen
Skip Bennett
Jens William Scott
Matthew Russell
Stephen Dubovsky
Jonathan Allen
somewhat smaller group this time around…
Sean, perhaps a smaller group, but a top 5 finish within that group of fasssst MA racers would be quite an accomplishment.
Good luck and be safe.

yeah, I noticed that too. One would think that with a smaller field your odds of a podium finish would be greater. Not so with this field. It would be a fun race to watch. You guys be sure to have your in car video running.
Sean, Ken, others, have you looked at the MA points standings? If I am not mistaken there are 14 MA races and a racer gets to drop his result from 10%, or 1.4 races. Rounding to the closest number that would be 1 race…?
Cobetto already has a no-start so that would be his dropped race. If you take off Jon’s worst result , a 63, there are only 19 points from 1st to 2nd, with Skip Bennet very close in 3rd.
Also from the MA points, if you see a result better than 70 (fifth place)it is a good day at the race track. I think I’ll stay in the Southeast…
Should be an exciting finish at MA and at the Nationals.

Chris won the Sat.Race, Sunday AM…
Jon, then Jens, then Chris Sun. PM…
It was Ugly hot then we had a monsoon that caused us to scratch the day 70 minutes early. The Autobahn race was rescheduled for Sunday at 0800
Good showing by Chris. Looks like that new motor is working well for him.
I motion for a vote to ban the Regional Director from beating up on his customers:P

LOL. Sorry you couldn’t make it Ken.
I will soon post video of my battle with Sean from yesterday morning; stay tuned.

Hey Matt,
Carter said you were there. I wish I could have made it too. Small but very competitive field. We could have had a three way battle at the back if I had been there. I look forward to seeing your video.
On another note, I’m sending you a email.

As usual, it was a tough weekend for some and a great weekend for others. But that’s racing!
In the Sunday morning race, I too was a victim of the "Sean wave of muddy water" on the first lap. I just caught the edge so it dried immediately and blocked about 40% of the view through the windshield. I continued racing but it wasn’t a lot of fun. I’ll have working washer fluid for the National race.
On or about lap 10, I turned-in a little early at turn one. I couldn’t really see the turn-in point but realized I wasn’t extremely early and could keep in on the pavement at the exit. My left rear tire hit a mud puddle on the asphalt and I lost it. I spun in the grass and stopped. With muddy tires, I stayed off the racing line and took about a lap to get back up to speed.
The afternoon race was more fun. I qualified 6th (and not too far behind 5 good cars and good drivers) and got up to 4th by the second lap. However, being about 8 to 15 hp down on the others, I couldn’t keep Skip and Carlton behind me for long. I knew they would get past but we had some good, clean racing for a few laps. I made it a bit tough to get around but wanted to take the car home without body damage. Plus, Skip was driving well and Carlton had moved his rear bar to the soft setting, making his car significantly more stable, and quicker. Why did I tell him that bit of suspension tuning wisdom? Plus, Carlton drove very well.
A few comments on the dyno runs. Skip Bennett (BMW crate motor), Jon Allen (built motor) and Chris Cobetto (built motor) were all within about 3 hp of each other. Low to mid 150’s.
We’ll have more dyno runs at the National race weekend as well as other tech checks.
Carter
Hey guys, had a fun HOT weekend down at Summit. It was a serious throw down and the racing was extrememly close and fast. I was able to get some clear track in qualifying and I got pole both days. In the first race on Sunday Skip got a great start and I found myself behind him and Cobetto after the first lap. Eventually I bumped Cobetto into the lead past Skip and we circulated for several laps nose to tail until I got a little loose coming into ten and I lost my momentum down the straight. This gave Cobetto a nice margin of lead. A couple of laps later I got into Currans mud on the outside of 1-2 after getting wide in one. Fortunately I didn’t spin, somehow, but Cobetto had checked out at that point and I crossed the tape in second. In the second race I had Yens on the outside pole and Cobetto was right behind me in third. Yens tried to go around the outside, I couldn’t make my bumper wider and Cobetto got through, the race was on. Here’s a link showing the first few laps of the second race. Chris and I were on it, the track was great and my car was dialed. Yens was right there too and kept Cobetto at bay for the rest of the race. A great weekend thanks to Poore Performance and Chris at Bimmerparts.com.
Wow, sounds like my little off road excursion caused all sorts of fun. I can’t take the credit for the mud one your window though Carter  I was wrong, it was Jens that I think caught with a little of the spray, you were already up ahead by that point. Like everyone has said, but it was bad enough that it can be repeated, Saturday was hot. Me and Matt had an awesome battle, swapping positions multiple times per lap, I’ll get my video online soon also. Matt’s footage has a MUCH more interesting section to it though.

Sorry I couldn’t stay for the afternoon race. Here’s my story and I’m stickin to it:
Talk about quick reaction with the wipers. I like the audio dub with slow motion effect. Tough field of racers. There was at least one incident where you were not given racing room, IMO.
Here’s the view of the mud splash from my car, not too much to see. I also put in the best part of the battle that went on between Matt and myself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUlnzLb8o2g
