SpecE30's in GRM again!

#1

Got the latest issue of Grassroots Motorsports mag today (Nov 2005), and there are a couple of Spec E30 pictures in this issue.

Pg 48 has a writeup of HPDE events, with 2 pics of what look like Chris Cobetto’s SpecE30 car, in one he’s chasing an early z-car, and the other is just his white SpecE30 car.

Pg 155 has a writeup of Hyperfest at Summit with several pics, the larger one on the bottom of the page shows a yellow Audi, followed by a 6-series BMW in the process of spinning (looks like Kempton Shields’ M6??) and in the background is a YELLOW E30- looks like Forrest’s car (the former Hunt SU car??).

Woohoo!!

Bret.

Thanks for the heads up…I love going to the mailbox and finding GRM…
BTW I think that is Kempton’s car. He was the only 6er there

It’s gotta be Kempton, I remember his M6 spinning at Hyperfest.

After the next, and final NASA Mid Atlantic race at Summit Point in three weeks, I’ll write a season wrapup for GRM/NASA Speednews.

Thanks to Carlton’s suggestions, we arranged a pro photographer group photo on the front straight last weekend during the lunch hour. My Dad also took some photos with his point-and-shoot 35 mm and they look good. I’m sure the pro from Euro Image got some good shots too.

I’ll include them in the year-end report and we’ll post some here on the site.

Carter,

Any chance you could post the group pic under the Galleries.

If I’m in town for the October 15/16 races at Summit, I’ll bring the heavy duty camera gear, since I won’t be driving… Before college, I was a professional sports photographer…

You may want to mention that as of last weekend three spec e30 cars have officially set foot on CA tracks during racing competition (albeit with BMW CR, not spec e30).

Steve:

All Spec E30 drivers and cars will be included in my writeup. We definitely want to include our friends on the West coast who have taken the "leap of faith."

I’ll scan them and will add them to the site in the next few days. I’m going to my nephew’s b’day party tomorrow afternoon and then on to Charlotte to instruct for the local Ferrari dealer’s Customer Appreciation day on Saturday. Driving Ferrari’s on the track is tough but someone has to do it…

Give me a few days to get the photos up.
