My '87 325is project race car is for sale because work is interfering with my
life. No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to find time…so my project SpecE30
is for sale (although you could adopt it to different class/series) It’s not
"ready to race car" but it could get there in short order (and a little elbow
grease). Most ( all?) needed suspension parts are installed. Engine and
transmission are out of the car. While the car has roll cage, it doesn’t have
race seat installed, or other safety stuff. Also, there is no engine ( I used it
for another project).
This is probably best suited for someone who wants to get into racing cheaply
and avoid a lot of work…
Reluctantly, I would like to sell all of this as `set’ or in parts as described
below.
- Rolling chassis
- Transmission
- Misc Parts
Who ever decides to buy a rolling chassis has first dibs on the rest of the
parts ( items 2 and 3). After chassis is sold, then I’ll sell the rest.
- Rolling Chassis:
Rolling chassis with quite few SpecE30 parts installed – pretty much all the
parts needed to convert it from street car to race car. Cage, sunroof retainer,
sway bars, camber/ castor plates, subframe bushings, trailing arm bushings,
shocks, springs, etc. See below for complete list of parts installed ( all
labor done ! ). Also sound-deading material was removed from the trunk.
Parts installed on the car ( all labor done!):
Suspension
• Control Arm bushings - Bimmerworld offset derlin
• Control Arms -
• Swaybar items are IE 352
• Swaybar – Front
• Swaybar bushings - front
• Swaybar control link - front
• Swaybar - Rear
• Swaybar bushings – rear
• Swaybar control link - rear
• Swaybar reinforcement – rear
•
• Subframe Bushings – rear – AKG Poly 70D
• Rear trailing arm bushings – AKG Poly 60D eccentric
• Springs - H&R Race #50404-88 Front 50404-88F & EBS-BMW-3/1 are eq SPRING RATE
F: 315 R: 570
• Shocks - Bilstein Sport
• Shock mounts – rear GC poly
• Camber/castor Adjust plates - Camber/castor Adjust plates
Fuel and Brakes
• Brake Lines - Teflon lined metal braided
• Fuel Filter
• Rebult calipers – kits used PNs: 34 11 1 157 043 , 34 11 1 157 038, 34 21 1
153 194
• Front Disk Brakes – (have rears but not installed)
• Pads
Driveline and Steering
• Wheel bearings – Rear
• Diff bushing – AKG poly 70D
• Rebuilt axels
• Steering rack – all seals changed but converted for no power steering option
• Tie rod ends
• Wheel Studs ( front installed, rear have parts)
• Lug nuts (front installed, rear have parts)
Body and Interior
• Roll Cage – TC Design
• Hood pins
• All interior removed
• Removed trunk sound padding
Includes all needed / wanted interior– but it’s not installed on the car
(dashboard , etc.) . Same for electronics such as ECU, ABS ECU, Instrument
cluster, etc. and some of those associated wire harnesses ( taken out when cage
was put in – just have to connect it back).
Cage might not be completely SpecE30 legal but it can be addressed. Car has
welded in rear suspension back brace. My cage builder welded a bar across back
part of the cage effectively making welded-in back brace. In order to be SpecE30
legal ( I think) bar spanning across rear shock towers should be cut out –
that’s it ( basically cage has an extra piece). Bar can be completely cut-out
or, with use of two couplers you can make removable brace out of it ( to best
of my knowledge welded back brace is not allowed by the rules but removable one
is)
Remember this is a rolling chassis - mo engine, transmission is out of the car,
clutch not installed ( I have new) , exhaust ( I have SpecE30 legal exhaust in a
box and never installed), and race seat are not installed – so you have an
option of using your own parts if you wish – or you can get stuff that I have
(see below)
- Transmission
Transmission and shifter are out of the car and available separately if buyer of
rolling chassis doesn’t pick it up. Tranny was looked over and bunch of seals
are replaced. Same for shifter parts.
Shifter lever and associated parts – not installed ( new shift lever, bearing,
bearing bolt, bearing shift lever, etc/.)
Seals on the tranny have been changed. Main seals (input / output ).
