Hi all…

Not here with the best news today. Our Spec e30 Project (98% complete) was stolen on it’s trailer last evening from Westlake, Ohio.

I am not hopeful that we will ever see it again… but getting the info out is at least worth a try. Listed below is some basic info on the car and trailer and all the gear we had stored in it in anticipation of our Ohio to Florida move in two weeks.

Im sorry to hear about this…and very upset by it. I hope you find everything in good shape and the people responsible. Good Luck.

Sorry to hear of your loss and I hope the vehicles are recovered.
Can these situations, which do not seem uncommon, be avoided?
Are there any trailer security systems out there?
I’ve seen wheel clamps for sale in the UK for around $150…would this make a good theft deterrent?

Very sorry to hear. Will keep eyes peeled…

That really sucks. This is a major loss for you. Not only the car and trailer but everything stored in the car. There is nothing worse to me than a thief. Something like this will make an honest law abiding person want to take extreme action to find and punish the low life criminal. Hopefully it will turn up. Its hard to hide a car for very long. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about that…I can’t even imagine what you must be going thru.

have you put the word out on bimmerforum, bmwcca, racecar direct, etc.? Those folks will be glad to be on the look out too.

I’ll be watching I-75 for it…wish I could do more.

I feel really bad about that. Makes me think about what if that happened to me. 100+ hours of labor, money, and it’s not insured.

#10

That is infuriating! What a great looking car.

I will definitely watch for it and I’m sure everyone here will too. And keep us up to date on any leads.

Aggh, that bites big time – sorry to hear it. I am sure everyone will keep an eye out for it.
BTW, is that Brett A.’s company sponsoring your car?

Igor

Yep, that’s Brett. He’s about an hour from us and helped us with some of the work on the car that we didn’t have the experience or equpment to tackle. The car spent some quality time over there  I’m sure he won’t be thrilled to hear that someone has made off with some of his handiwork…

I am sincerely sorry you had this occur, and can sympathize somewhat… Last Feb 28 my trailer was also stolen from Chapel Hill Storage on Estes Rd (not much of an endorement). I was really lucky that I was working on the car at the time and it was at home.

It turned out that I was able to get reimburement for the tires (8 new Toyo stickers) the tool box mounted on the front, the trailer spares and the tire rack. The trailer itself had a default $1500 max on it within the policy since it was stolen away from my property. I made a police report and had photos and receipts. Hope you have similar luck on this side of a raw deal.

I will keep an eye out!

Natalie,

Damn, that really sucks and I’m sorry to hear this. I met your husband John at Gingerman this summer (I believe this is where your photos are from yes?), he seemed like a very nice guy. I’m sorry, I don’t recall if I met you or not but perhaps. Anyway, the word is spreading on this all over the place, I know I’ve shared this with a couple lists. Hopefully someone will see it/find it and it will be recovered.

Best of luck. Cheers.

Sorry to hear this. I’ve posted links on a couple of racing forums I use to help get the word out. I came across this at a British car forum I belong to. It is an ebay auction for a reward to a stolen MGA. Some may have issues with Ebay but it is a greta way to get the word out. Here is the link

I hope things turn out better than they seem.

Well - quit looking for the car. Cleveland Police recovered it in the "hood"…when they called, they said the car was "stripped" - I wasn’t sure what that meant to me…

The 2 Sparco Evo Ls are gone, the steering wheel is gone, belts, all my stuff (helmets, gloves, pyrometer, gas cans, etc) gone. Car was found with a Ford POS seat just sitting in the driver’s position after the seats were pulled… The police found it with the trailer plates on it (as it did not have street legal plates) on it. The trailer, with my chairs, tires and wheels are gone, but the TD wheels and Toyos are still on the car (!). Brett Anderson picked it up from impound (after 120 in impound and towing fees - what a slap in the face). As some know, between the theft and the recovery, we moved from Cleveland to Tampa…so I have some logistics to figure out… Brett says it looks undamaged other than the ignition having some melted wires from the hot wiring (Need to see what the rules say about how stock that needs to be when I’m done).

So - good news - looks like this put us back a year or so in participation - but the cage and suspension are OK - and that is the big stuff…

Thanks for consoling us with this tough few months - see you guys at the track (when I get a new trailer)!!!

John
