So...who is in for Road Atlanta?

#81

Yo Kelly, it sounds like an evenings worth of work.

For all of those that have pitched-in to get your car ready…well you need to complete the task at hand. The replacement parts are plentiful.

How is that for pressure?

No response is necessary 'cause it will sound like an excuse.Just fix it.

See you at the track.

Regards, Robert (pay it forward to the next racer) Patton

#82

I agree w/Robert - what do you need? if I have it I’ll overnite it to you…

Jim “Paying it forward…” Pantas

I think the point Patton was trying to make is, if we didn’t like you, we wouldn’t give a crap whether you were out there racing or not  So as to not see all our collective hard work go to waste, get busy and round up the bits you need and get that thing ready. You can still make RA if you get busy!

I still owe you a flag-to-flag whupping on the track, and I’m not gonna get my payback with you on the sidelines. Come on, fix that piece of trash!

Jim,

I appreciate the offer and won’t say no to help or extra parts if you have them and are willing to donate them to the #168 John Deere En Fuego Racing project. I’m going to talk to Robert about fishing through the parts container up at Geno’s on Friday or Saturday if he is willing to let me.

I agree the work to fix it isn’t all that much, it’s more a matter of sourcing everything I need…

Thanks to Everyone!!!

I can donate -
AFM
idle control valve
spark plug wires

All should be ‘known’ good.

You have a later car don’t you?

If it is an early model I have a radiator for an early one that I’ll give up too if you can use it.

#86

Ditto, I’ve got most of what you need except the radiator. (Jim stole the one I would have had as a spare and apparently can’t even use it on his car. Karma)

I’m all tapped out after spending $1.4m on my motor build in the off season.

I’ve got a spare hood I can bring to RA (any color you want as long as it’s black).

Fred, I appreciate the offer but (if things work out) would just run the hood (mabye with a band-aid) as a badge of honor.

Robinson… I’ll take you up on that and can catch up with you this weekend sometime if that’s OK with you. Give me a call (678) 640-9535.

Scott… if you’re willing to throw some stuff UPS to my house, anything I can’t use I’ll bring to you at RA… my address is 4707 Oakleigh Manor Drive, Powder Springs GA 30127.

I might be able to pull this off… hmmmm. Thanks again to everyone.

Kelly,
We’ll be in my shop all weekend working on the JoeTV car, I have a complete spare SpecE30 with all of the parts sitting in front of my shop, call my cell (704) 791-9375 if you find you need something and can’t find it locally.

The southeast Spec e30 group is an amazing bunch of guys!

I agree. You guys are amazing.

I have to echo the previous sentiments. In our world of no personal responsibility and folks that seem only interested in how little they can do, a thread like this kinda reaffirms a guy’s faith in humanity.

I drive a SpecE30 (clumsily) and they’re a fine group of guys. Chicks too. Or do I call them “gals”, “ladies”?..whatever.

In all seriousness… you folks are great. We hope to never need the help, but if we should, it will be nice to know that you’ll be there.

Natalie, when do you join us?

My daughter is the only female on the NASA race grid and could use some company. Watch out, she can pedal it pretty fast. Just ask the boys…

Come see us.

Regards, Robert Patton

PS looks like a good turn-out for Road Atlanta.

It’s just a matter of time… the only think holding us back is us. We had the additional bar welding into the driver side of the cage, all the safety gear is done and the new Sparco suits are hanging in the closet.

At this point our plan is to do the FL region comp school at Homestead in May… (we decided we weren’t crazy enough to try to do the RA comp school… we’ve both driven RA but once, in a rental car, in 2000). One of us will drive the e30, the other will get the daily driver (e46 M3) - we’ll flip a quarter probably  It will be only way we’ll both be able to get licensed any time soon. After that we’ll be able to come out and play!

I think we will get up to Roebling for the IFU2 event… even if we won’t be racing, I’ll be more than happy to get some more seat time there and finally get to meet some more of the SE30 crowd.
Oh and BTW, regarding Roebling… could you guys have picked a paddock spot FARTHER away from the bathrooms? :woohoo: That’s my girlie side talking!

It will be nice to have another “chick” around at the track… I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully I’ll be able to pedal just as quickly (and only spend a brief time as a back marker).

Speaking of “JoeTV”, (I guess that’s me but don’t formally answer to that…), provided my tires come in this week I’ll be there to shake down my e30 ('87 325 is) at RA. I’ve still got HPDE’s to do, so may let some of the race-required tech items to slide so we can get the running gear, exhaust etc. buttoned up today/this week.

I’m really excited to get out there. I did the Panoz 3-day and an advanced school at Road Atlanta and can’t wait to get back.

Yesterday was a major milestone…I was having one of those days where nothing was coming together…but Jim kept encouraging me to hang in there. I can’t say how lucky I am to have “landed” in the SE region and the highly organized, well-lit, and thoroughly entertaining shop of Jim Pantas. Not only has he welcomed me into this bunch, but his shop and toolbox as well. Being my first spece30 build (or first sports car build for that matter), its been a real treat to have guidance, and moreover, moral support.

I’m hoping to post the first installment of build pictures tonight. The monthly features on SPEEDtv.com will begin later this week assuming I can get to it.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting more great folks next weekend. Just look for the confused looking newbie in the plain (no paint job/theme yet) e30. :woohoo:

Joe,

Don’t let a silly little thing like tires stand between you and a good time at RA.

Welcome to Spec E30 Southeast. It’s always good to have one more. Looking forward to meeting you.
