Skeen is on speed

#21

Karting really was 1 (out lap) and two timed laps. I was bummed they didn’t put a race in the first episode, but I think future episodes should improve in terms of seeing “action.” Still, it is made for TV.

#22

Anyone know when the next episode is?

#23

I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the next 7 Thursdays at 8:00… we reruns throughout the week.
Jim, I went over to the bf.c site and read the posts about the show. The resume of talent for the show gives me a greater appreciation for Skeen’s talent.Mike Davidson must have had some bad luck in the karting competition, as he can pedal a car really well too.

Mike D, can you comment now that one episode is complete? Let’s hope Skeen did well.

Well I had never laid eyes on a shifter kart before and definitely never driven one. Two laps to lay down a quick lap in a kart that goes 0-100-0 in 10 seconds is a little rediculous. It is what it is and i’m glad mike made it on the show I just wish I had made it as well. It was an experience to say the least. The best phrase to describe the entire thing: “Hurry up and wait”. I am looking forward to seeing how mike did and wouldn’t be surprised if he won! I don’t know anything else as I was gone before they filmed the second part of the first episode.

I finally caught an episode last night after Wind Tunnel (open wheel unification at last!). Good grief, does this show make me want to gouge my eyes out and glue my ears shut. The hype level is unbelievable. If it weren’t for our resident heroes, I wouldn’t suffer through this over-produced, content-lacking, typical SPEED crapfest.
But I’ll linger, to support a brother.
For all that is holy, please show me some bleeping racing!!!

#26

Mike - how were the cars compared to our super spec e30’s?

My sentiments exactly.

Rumor has it he’s coming to RA to start out in HPDE1 as a noob, with goal of making it to competition. He answers to the name Joe TV.

Y’all might want to provide him some constructive criticism on the merits of Speed’s programming choices since the FOXification of Speed. I’m sure he’d enjoy a spirited discussion.

JoeTV is Coming! JoeTV is Coming! :woohoo:

That’s true, Joe Tripp, SpeedTV VIP, is currently working with sponsors and building a car in my shop. So soon all of you will be (in reality) TV stars… :silly:

Get some Skeen. Even the mid-pack will get some air time. No need to stress about winning…

#32

If Setup is any indication only characters among us will get the airtime.

Hope Al’s ready for his close up!

#33

Al needs his own show. Seriously.

I have been TiVoing the episodes and just got up to date. I have to say that despite all the made fo TV crap I am pretty impressed this year.

Dang Mike, I thought TK was going to cry when he told you to go home with the “racing is cruel” comment.

I can’t wait til next week (and isn’t that what it is all about?)

Don

I will bite my tongue here, but I have to say if it wasn’t for Mike I wouldn’t be watching this show,

I’d wish you luck next week, but the show has already happened.

#36

I think it’s been a fun show to watch this year. I was definitely more interested since Mike Skeen is in it, and of course I’m pulling for him even though I know it’s already over but the intensity of it is pretty cool to me. I can tell through the first two shows there are several drivers that, given the large number of applicants, had no business being in the top 24 - but it’s getting down to business now with people that are serious drivers. I’m looking forward to the next one.

#37

Just watched the latest one on my DVR. I hate the ridiculous reality show fake drama but alas I was caught up in it, pissed & yelling at the TV when they were kicking Mike off so unfairly, only to have it reversed after the commercial break. And of course we’re left hanging on with bated breath for next week’s one-on-one shootout between the good Mr. Skeen and the evilized Bridgestone driver. Will good or evil win? Stay tuned. Hey, it’s TV. Whaddya expect?
Anyway, Skeen is awesome no matter what happens. If you haven’t watched it yet, give it a gander. Hope Skeen wins (or already won) it all of course.

#38

I just watched the latest episode. Even my 13 year old daughter was getting into it and cheering “Mikey-poo” on… I know you wouldn’t have much trouble with the Bridgestone guy.
