Who is registered?

Thanks,

Thanks Sean. We may have a conflict with CMP, so we might be late registrants for Shenandoah.

That is fine. You can actually show up and register at the track if you need to. Remember that the 50.00 late fee went in to effect last friday night.

Hey

Anyone have a good link for track walk/tips etc, have never seen the track… NASA Regs say we are running counter clockwise and are using the cut thru…does that mean no Karrrusel?

Al:

I suggest taking it VERY easy during your first few laps. There are some places that can bite you.

Last year, I enjoyed learning the new track but it took a day to get up to speed. Use Saturday as a test/race day and then race hard on Sunday.

Have fun!

Look here for a full race vid from last year with the same configuration we will run this weekend, the race was in June 2005: http://ekrosen.com/racing.html

The cut off means eliminating the dogbone area we use it as the grid instead. look at the map in the supps on www.nasaracing.net and after the long straight and the hard left hander, the short straight, then a hard right hander…this is the cut thru. unless it had been modified, you need to give a little to the inside there or there will be a pretty big bump.

We ran the Shenandoah last May during OLOA. As I recall, the scariest place on the track is up under the bridge. You crest a hill blind that leads to the carousel. If you’re not in the left third of the track, trouble will ensue. The first time over this at about 110 in my e36 M3, the rear came completely off the ground.

The worst crash of OLOA was at this spot when a WRX was to the right. As he crested the hill and the track bends back left a little, he was too far to the right. He tried to correct when the car was light, and as soon as he loaded up again, he shot off to the left into the infield and hit the highly-banked carousel straight on at good speed, getting fully airborne much of the way to the tire wall. He was okay, but the car was too damaged to continue. Months later is was up for sale all "fixed" on eBay!

I forgot one more thing. I had most success with the carousel by driving onto the rim on the right (high) side and then dropping in soon after the pavement turned from asphalt (track) to concrete (carousel). Blasting straight into the carousel made the underside of the car hang up at the asphalt/concrete transition.

This is correct…That subie got way out of shape. I have the vid on my laptop and will have it at registration should you want to see it.

This is also correct. Right front tire on the union of concrete/asphalt at the top corner to enter…about 2/3 way around increase throttle to climb the bank and right fron tire on the union to exit. It is fun. The next couple turns are tougher.
