Now that the 2007 NASA MA race season is over, we are beginning to think about our winter trip down to Sebring. PBOC (Porsche/bmw owners club)and BMW CAA host its annual Winterfest event at Sebring during the week of January 16th-20th. There are sprint races, HPDE’s, 1.5 hour enduro, and the main event, a sweet 6 hour enduro into the night. Andrew (P1) Zimmermann and I have done this event the past two years and it’s a blast. It’s the week before the 24 hours of Rolex and there are usually quite a few pro teams who come out to test in preparation for that race. Some pretty kick a$$ cars usually show up for the deal. The weather is always sweet and there’s never any snow on the track!
I know I’ve mentioned this to some of you guys before, we are hoping that this year we can get some fellow Spec e30 racers from all regions to bring some cars down and participate in the festivities with us. It would be awesome to race for six hours with a pack of E30’s. In our experience, it’s a great excuse to get away from the bad weather in the mid east, relax and do some racing on the historic Sebring circuit. If you have never been to Sebring it’s a fabulous track, especially in a comfy E30! Let’s go!
FYI, if you just want to show up to Sebring and drive an E30, we’ll also be offering rental seats in our newly constructed `87 325i. 3 spots are open for the 6 hour enduro and spots are also available for HPDE, sprints and the 1.5 hour enduro. Registration is already open on the PBOC site http://www.pbocflorida.com/mainmenu.html ,so check it out(we have no affliation with PBOC). It’s a good deal for the amount of track time you will get. Also, if you have a NASA, BMW CCA, SCCA or EMRA race license, you can sign up to race no problem.
This is a great chance to come out, have a ton of fun (especially if Al comes) and race in the wintertime. Drop PBOC or us a line if you have any questions.
