Good to hear that everything is on schedule.

We’re in for a knife fight at RA. But at CMP I will own you.

That is why I might go for a class win in TTE at CMP, and wait till March for Comp school, I have only been to CMP once. Going racing for the first time on a track I am not that familiar with is a little scary.

I will wave to you as I go by at RA :stuck_out_tongue:

Can I claim “rookie” status on a fiscal year basis?

If so, count me in until September.

Get with another rookie and sign up for the Friday Enduro. Do the Comp School in the morning and then the Enduro in the afternoon. The enduro will give both of you 90min of track time in an environment that is like a track day with “open” passing. Between Comp School and the Enduro you will both get ~2 1/2hrs of track time Friday. And that should be enough refresher to jump into the Sat/Sun sprints.

Enduro’s really are the best way to merge into W2W, because although it’s a race, most folks aren’t being very aggressive.

Do you think they would let me wait for everyone to clear turn 1 before starting my race:woohoo:

No passing the rookie driver in the Kink

At the first enduro of the year the starting grid is random. Except that fresh comp school grads start in the rear.

The passing at the kink issue raises a good point even if you were just kidding around. Every track has some places where you’d prefer not to be passed. But to some extent you can control where you are passed. If your situational awareness tells you that the guy coming up behind might try a tricky pass, find a way to encourage him to pass you a little earlier. And do it in a way such that you don’t kill your momentum.

If you know that you are going to get passed, rather then delaying the inevitable, control the situation and make it happen on your terms.

For example, letting someone pass you at CMP’s lazy turn 13 won’t cost you much at all. But if he tries to pass you 5 secs later at turn 14, you could come out of turn 14 5mph low. And that would cost you maybe 4secs on the straightaway.

+1 on Comp school at March RA. I’ll be doing the DE 3 at CMP since I have never seen that track before. Also will be doing solo at Sebring Winterfest, anyone else going to that? Excited to join all the rookies this year.

#18

wow, so many rookies. Sounds like everyone will be jumping in at March RA race.

Oh, it’s going to be an ‘interesting’ season for SE…

P.S. - you left out TeddyM3

I think I decided on CMP, less concrete, lots more runoff room. Plus I will be able to call all the other rookies noobs at RA :stuck_out_tongue:

epalacio do you have the black car, built your own cage?

Welcome to all.The series has come a long way since 2004.Sounds like Chuck Taylor and Jim Pantas need to get a spec e30 rookie meeting lined up for the group. They have done similar things around the competition school dates. For the reasons that Greg mentioned, the CMP date would be best for your rookie experience. Not to mention there will be less people in attendance and more time for your questions and concerns.

If you’ve got any questions post 'em here. You’ll find that it is a very helpful bunch of racers in the SE.
