I also appreciate the SE30 zen and keeping things stock/spec. I’ll be fine with what the judge decides, but this member of the jury votes in favor of the non-factory ignition switch.

[quote]Eric - just to qualify your comment, "It’s not hard…" to install an accessory panel. In my experience, replacing the ignition cylinder/mechanism is hard and as Vic noted - a PITA!
I did look at prices for the ignition switch - new replacement - $51 to $147 depending on what parts are bad. Used (ebay) $29 to $49. Labor would be much greater to replace the cylinder/mechanism as well.

I didn’t spend near that much on the 944. The panel is a Moroso kit for about $50. All you need to do is find the "momentary" wire on the ignition circuit and run it to the starter button. Same effect as turning the key. It’s a relay protected circuit so you don’t even need a high-power momentary toggle. (BTW - all work referenced above was done on my 944, not the E30)
For power, I have a master cutoff that kills everything right on my driver’s A Pillar
As for the exhaust – I know the rules aren’t changing soon, but rather than specifying 1 pipe or 2 pipes, why not specify a maximum total cross-section planar area?
AFAIK (and I don’t know much about engineering)… Two 1.75" pipes have the same volume as one 2.5" pipe, right?
Area = π x ®®
