RRR oportunity

There is a VDCA race at RR Sept 5/6…they lost their partner (SCCA) so they need entrants. I have run with them in the past, they are a laid back vintage group. vdca@vintagedrive.com, Mike Jackson. If it was not the weekend before LeMons I might go…

oh, $250 FOR 2 DAYS, and as they lost there partner group, TONS of track time.

Al, I love that place and will contact Mike to find out how many it would take to have a run group.

First Annual Spec e30 Outlaw race? (sure to get attention)

Patton Invitational at RRR? (everyone is invited)

Spec e30 Outlaw Nationals? (racing myself for a national title)

Maybe I’ll just race Laura there?

Interested…please correspond here.

Regards, Robert Patton

I’m the local boy but this would be a hard sell. I’m at RA the weekend before and CMP the Fri-Sun after. And I have to work on the Lemons car for a couple days in NC so my wife would positively explode if I tried to wheedle in some more track time.

Pls keep me informed as to the preparations and maybe I’ll pull off a miracle or get divorced in the next month.

This would be tough for me too, but I love Roebling like Jones loves HGH.

If there looks to be a quorum I’ll try to make magic happen (thats what she said)…

To go forward though we’ll have to find an Outlaw tent and someone will need to post a signup sheet for potluck. I’ll bring napkins.

#6

seeing how I’m more than likely not going to RA this weekend, this may just be my next track weekend… Love RRR

Keep us posted

#7

I’m out. Going to be laying on the beach that weekend.

#8

I would be in if we at least 15 or so.

#9

I’m seeing some interest. Cool.

Potluck…no, a Laura Patton Low Country boil.
Tent…just gather in the shade of the race trailer.

Jim, if Chuck and I can pull this off we’ll need the sign-ups.If the logistics work out, I hope you and others can join us.

Labor Day weekends no good for me :frowning:

#12

Hmmm…weekend before Lemons, but still helps fill the schedule gap…

#13

Yup, weekend before LeMons…I dont think I could do it, but hey cheaap track time for anyone who wants some time there…the vintage group is of course a no contact group…

Al

#14

Count me in. I love Roebling too.

#15

I’m in if we can pull it off… Who knows, the car might even make it through the weekend

I emailed Mike the VDCA guy to see what we needed to do to race.

Wife mentioned that she is thinking about taking a road trip with the kids that weekend to visit a chick friend. Wow! Christmas might come early.

Later edit:
I rec’d an email back from Mike@VDCA.

  1. He and Chuck are working the details, but a tentative plan is emerging where we might get our own race. Therefore no tech, license, nor 13/13 issues(*).

  2. This is dependent on the level of interest. If they get $$ from 10+ folks then we could be in. Less then that and things get iffy.

This is all early truth. Truth can change.

(*)The standard “Don’t hurt Gress’s car because he will kill you” rule applies.

Get 10 from the Southeast the see if the MA region wants to attend the outlaw event. Race under the 13/13 rules that VDCA has and keep it clean.Hav our own regionalnational event.I think Chuck is talking to Pantas to make sure there is not a problem with us running with them.

Lets not use the word “national”, it will only cause hate and discontent. Recall what happened back when the Miller location was announced and we started talking about an E. Coast alternative.

If the wife does indeed take off with the kids, I will be able to put up some folks. The first person that applies gets the inflateable bed. Fred’s already got the guestroom.

I note that the RR schedule has a practice day that Friday, so folks could make this a 3 day event.

Scott, you are so right…so notice the clever regional-title and the outlaw name.

It is all for fun. Now, if the east coast guys has immediately organized an event and promoted it for the entire year, “foul” would be in order. But, with this late date and impromptu(sp?)bit of throw-together, it is in no way is a conflict.

Ok, here’s the participant list. I’m committing. I’m in and I’ll pay tomorrow. Once I figure out how.

Scott “It’s the oil pressure” Gress
Robert “I don’t type, I edit” Patton
Laura “Dimples” Patton
Dr. Fred “I’m not a Pshrink” Switzer
Kelly “it was the drivetrain” Childress
Bill “Packin” Zawrotny
Jim “Sunshine” Robinson
Chuck Taylor.

I couldn’t come up with a nickname for Chuck. I know of no Chuck quirks nor drama to exploit.
