Roebling Road Field

Any updates? Those of us with cars up on jackstands, sitting in the office on a sunny Sunday afternoon (boooo!) need a little racing fix.

Is Ranger buzzing the tower? IndyJim pulling out an overall win in Thunder? Red Baron lucking out while racing a for-sale race car? Patton proving that old age and treachery will always overcome youthful exuberance?

I think Jones won both races if his Facebook posts are to be trusted. :stuck_out_tongue:

I did awful Saturday because I’d had a “good idea” a couple months ago and tightened my rear sway 4mm on each side. I spent all Saturday going thru turns sideways. Sat night I loosened it back to where it had been, and on Sunday the car was more controllable and I got a second back. Not terrific, but I’m rusty from all wrenching and no racing.

Those of you that think you can’t detect 4mm of swaybar change need to go try it.

Skeen’s old 2007 motor did fine.

Early in Sunday’s race I got punted by Fred about half way thru turn 4 which put me sideways in front of Al. Al tried to go behind me but didn’t quite make it, ripping my bumper off.

Congrats to Brian for winning both days. There was a DQ on Saturday, but I’ll let others address that.

I did in fact win both races this weekend! I know, I know, what is this world coming to right? Everything came together perfectly for me and the car was running better than it ever has. A few minor set up changes (read: I actually got an alignment) and the RA-1’s were in the sweet spot and made the car handle great for RRR.

I qaulaified 3rd for Saturday’s race behind Walsh and David Daniel. David finished first in Saturday’s race but was DQ’d during the post race inspection for not having a Spec Exhaust. I had some good clean racing with Walsh all weekend as we were neck and neck for both races. I also had close racing with Geiger and Patton but was able to hold them off both days.

Sunday I Qualified P1. Lost a spot early to Walsh who was second and followed him for about half the race until the Thunder Roadsters came bombing thru. I was able to catch back up to Walsh because of a Red Flag (Ranger’s Bumper removal.) After the restart the roadsters caught us and bogged Walsh down in 9. I was able to pass him going into one and ran the few final laps to the checker to take the win.

I have video on my new Go Pro HD camera. That thing is awesome. Problem is, Im not a computer guy and after editing them on the computer, they are still almost 3GB files! Not sure how to even begin loading something like that to tha interwebz as Vimeo gives me 500mb per week.

I had a great weekend and it was great seeing everyone as usual. I hope everyone made it home safely. Ill see all of you in July at LMS as we will not be able to make Road Atlanta in June. I am planning on crashing the Mid Atlantic in July at VIR. Anyone else interested?

Also, I think I may have left my two wooden ramps at RRR. Fred- Im not sure if you happened to grab them or not? No big deal if not, I can make some more.

Thanks,
Brian

Congrats, Jones! It is appropriate for you to finish your E30 career on top. I mean, you don’t really think she’s gonna let you continue to race, do ya?

I had a great time this weekend. The car performed flawlessly, and I was able to successfully get it off and back on the trailer without damaging it  . Wish I had been able to get a check ride into HPDE2, but I guess that will have to wait till Road Atlanta. I got to run with the 114 Spec E30 prepared car for a couple of track sessions and got to draft it down the straight a couple times and got a pass by from it. Watching the races was great, and as soon as the Saturday race was over and the 88/188 had gapped the field so bad I told myself he is going to get DQed because he clearly didn’t have the Spec/OEM exhaust or the OEM airbox under the hood. Congrats to Jones on his 2 wins. I wish I got to see the pass into 1, but I moved to watch the turn 4/5 area after the carnage happened there on Sunday. I really liked the track and getting to learn double apex turns. I look forward to everyones videos to study the lines through turn 5 as my instructor had me keep the tires on the white line on the outside of the turn.

fantastic job brian! you’ll have to downgrade the video res and/or framerate in order to make an upload feasible, even if you had a vimeo plus account it would take about two days to upload 3gb of data. anything larger than 720p (maybe even 480) at 30 fps is wasted for an online flash video.

i’ll be at the nasa-ma event in july, wasn’t planning on racing (signed up to instruct) but who knows what last minute changes may take place

Congrats again on the two wins!!

You can put them up on youtube, but have to cut the video to 10 min pieces. Cutting them down to 10 min should be below to 2GB limit for youtube videos.

Ummm…what?!

I do know what all of that stuff means…just dont know how to change any of it. All I got from that post is “for the future, set the camera to record a crappier picture so I can upload it.” Got it!
