Congratulations to Brian Jones for the two race wins!Brian had a P1 at a Rockingham race once before, so it wasn’t his first win…but kinda was cause of the larger size of the field and faster racers.

Brian and David Walsh had two close races for the first position on both days. Geiger had a solid third. A Patton (Laura on Saturday was reeling in Geiger but ran out if time) an me on Sunday came away with p4.

Laura was good all weekend. Peterman is up to speed. David Daniels was first on Saturday, but did not have the spec exhaust on. Does the exhaust make a difference? No, but the rules is what the rules is, and this ones been on the books since 1/1/2008.A minimal fender bender on Sunday…Ranger can tell the story.Wooten has this oil pressure light-on story to tell.Peterman can talk about fuel pumps.Jon can write stories on overheating. Robinson, Diegel and Mascow can talk some racing.Fred, Lako,Al, Who else was in the field?
Other stories?

The races were great to watch, and I felt really bad for Wooten not getting to do the full race either day.

What happened to Wooten on Saturday?

Oops, Chris was there doing the HPDE thing as was Dexter and a gaggle of folks from the Walsh/Lako racing group. Christan McIntyre wisited from the NE region and the are working hard to get more cars on track.

Others, Who did I miss?

I forgot to ask him what happened on Saturday. I know he was late to grid and started at the back. Then he came in before the race was over. It was great to have so many E30s in HPDE1. The 111 car was a great looking car from the Walsh/Lako group, and I got to run with the 114 car alot.

Jones, FTW. Now “Gumball” Jones has something to aspire to, other inheriting a beat to crap golf ball of a car.

It was awesome to get back behind the wheel. Last time I drove was November 09. I remember going through the carousel in practice Saturday morning with one hand on the wheel, gangsta lean, looking for the a/c button almost driving off the course, making sure Johnny Law wasn’t going to write me a ticket if I lit it up down the straight aways…

Once back in the game though, I noticed my car was handling like crap. I’d like to give a shout out to my man Rick Mariani at this point in the show! Brendan Digel and Ted MacMahan all chipped in at various points during the last 8 months(?) or so to put the car back together with a new rear trailing arm, windshield, front suspension bits, bumpers, etc. The car got aligned, but once on track, it was still not right. At high speed brake zones and hard left handers, the car had a tendency to dart which got really sketchy. Taking a page out of the Jim Robinson Handbook of Dumb, I decided that true race car drivers can drive around problems and to forge ahead. Robert Patton and I had a pretty good race… I got by him at some point, he had nothing coming out of the carousel so T9 to T1 was like taking candy from a baby. However, the second Patton was near and given another lap or two, Laura would have taken 4th away from me (which consequently turned into 3rd due to David Daniels’ DQ).

Turns out, after an inspection Sunday morning, that the front left brake caliper was sticking (guide pin seizing in the brass guide bushing), the front left ABS wire was cut and the camber was set too aggressively binding the hat in the housing. A little backyard mechanic work on the sand in the blazing sun and the car was remedied for qualifying.

Sunday’s race was more entertaining. I sat behind Walsh and Jones at times inches off of their bumpers as they went two wide, waiting for one of them to screw up or take each other out. Jones is notorious for both, so it seemed a brilliant strategy at the time. Unfortunately, a bunch of Thunder Roadsters (one in particular) and a Mustang (in Lightening??) decided to mess the race up especially for me, but the same could be said for Walsh and Jones, so I have no excuses… Other than the obvious… Jones is a cheater.

By the way, my car is now officially for sale. Thanks to everyone for not running into it this event!

Man… sounds like this was the wrong weekend to miss. Oh well.

Maybe we’ll have a poll on DTOM.

Looking for a reason for my crappy performance…Did Jones, Geiger, and Walsh all have new tires?

I know that Daniels did.

I know that Laura did…well at least until I stole her two front tires for the back of my car…still didn’t help on Sunday.

Just a slidey kinda weekend for me.

Patton wrote:
What happened to Wooten on Saturday?
A few mix-ups on my part (combined with one clock with incorrect time) caused me to miss the grid - then when I got out there at the back of the “everything other than SE30” pack, after several laps it felt like the car had a caliper sticking - so with that and all the traffic I had to work through I ended up coming in early.

Sunday the car was fine in qualifying, but then the oil light started flickering while on the grid. I thought it might turn off once we were rolling, but it didn’t, so I decided to cut my losses and come on in. I’m going to try a new OP switch first to see if that resolves it.

It was nice to meet you, Chris.

Thanks for the congrats, I really do appreciate it!

My car was just hooked up. My tires weren’t brand new but they only had 3 heat cycles on them from CMP. They couldn’t have felt better out there. I had tons of grip everywhere…except the outside of 9 where they put all of that sand and grass of course. ooooops.

Gumball is definitely top choice for the kids name…wife is not too thrilled with the idea. Weird right?

Brian,
In your (well-deserved) excitement over the race wins you forgot your two wooden ramp blocks. I’ve got 'em - will deliver at RA.

Great job Brian on the two wins. Lets see the video between you and Walsh. It was a great weekend having my father down from CT and many other WalshLako family members to enjoy the racing, camping and Davids birthday. Laura Walsh and Olivie added some DE fun with the 2 new cars. Special thanks to Scott and crew for all the help and entertainment.
Saturday: qualified 8th, finished 7th and enjoyed many laps with Laura Patton trying to hold her off. Great use of traffic Laura.
Sunday: qualified 8th, DNF from broken Shifter linkage during restart after Red flag in turn 1. I had fun with Stroup and Laura Patton again while it lasted. Great clean racing from what I could see.
My camera failed, so lets see some video from the rest of you. Looking forward to RoadAtlanta!

Sounds like a good time! Too bad I missed it.

I was going to bring my whip to Roebling this weekend, but as much shit as I talk, if I brought it half ready and you guys turned me out, I’d be the laughing stock forever. Instead, I took it to Miami-Homestead and it ran perfectly.

And then Natalie Black turned me out for the win on Saturday, fair and square.

I took the dead 888’s off and put on some relatively fresh RA-1’s and got the win on Sunday, and all in all, we had a good weekend.

Now I feel ready enough to bring the machine out to play. My fuel issues are solved (changed the tank, both pumps, and the filter) and the car is ready to go.

Can’t wait to play next time.

Incredible weekend for me thanks to my wife and friends. Thanks to everyone for all the 40th birthday wishes, still feel/act like I’m 17. Hope everyone was able to grab a Beer out of our “Free Beer” cooler. :lol:Beer

Started outside pole on Saturday. Daniels took the lead right off the start and continued to walk away as Jones and I battled for 2nd. Jones got by me at some point fairly early on and I started sliding all over the place trying to take it back. Soon I realized it was either chance loosing a podium all together or just try to conserve tires and keep position. Problem with that idea was that Geiger was steadily gaining as I was getting looser still. I was glad to see the checker as I think he would have got by me within a few more laps.

Beer party was great and a total surprise! Afterwards we had another celebration back at our pit. Thanks for all the great gifts, especially the Commemorative Obama Plate from Lako… expect to see that duck taped to the back of his race car sometime soon folks. After the gag gifts, My mom unveiled a kick ass painting and her husband had designed and printed T-shirts and Hats for everyone.

Sunday I made tire pressure and swaybar adjustments before qualifying and it made all the difference.
Started outside pole next to Jones and was able to make it stick through one and two to take the lead until the red flag later in the race. The thunder roadsters caught us soon after the restart and did kinda mess our race up a bit (at least for me) but they were having their own race which looked hard fought. They took the inside line going into one (I think) and Jones made the smart strategic move to follow them through. Congratulations again to Brian, winning 2 days in a row!

I got absolutely no video from the weekend hopefully someone got some footage!

I had a blast racing on Saturday - I need new tires, after a spin in T5 I never really caught back up.

Good luck w/that! Brandon’s name was supposed to be “Harley” but Julie got the birth certificate paperwork when I wasn’t there and now the rest is history!

Any other SE good times and good cheer to pass around?

And I seriously mean good times and good cheer. Let’s enjoy the racing on and off the track 'cause it doesn’t take but one or two bad happenings to mess up the camaraderie.

Regards, RP

See Geeg’s, you just dont appreciate the classics. I am trying to keep this a numbers matching car for Gumball. It’s much more valuable that way. You wouldn’t slap new re-popped fenders on an original Shelby Cobra would you? Same thing here.

Greetings to all of you.New guy here. Participated in my first ever event this week end at Roebling, and Lord that was fun!
I wish I had more time to meet all of you guys but quite frankly it was a bit overwhelming. I hope I will meet you guys as time progresses.

Thank you to David D. and Scott for the greatly sorted car 114, but then again I probably do not know the difference anyway!

Also thank you David to tell me how an E30 is supposed to be driven. You guys are crazy. period.

I am looking forward to the next event at Road Atlanta.
