Roebling race results

Awesome news for me - my oil light flicker was caused by damage to the OP switch wire due to rubbing on the belt at the front of the engine. My car was missing the guide/cover for the wiring (cover @ Pelican) as well as the two clips that hold it on (clips @ Pelican).

I haven’t been able to find the thread where these parts (and this problem) were mentioned previously, but if anyone has a link please provide it so I can bump that thread - all the guys currently doing builds need to make sure they’ve got something in place to prevent this issue.

There was a thread in the Southesat forum where I believe Steve mentioned the part number for the guide/cover. I actually just bought the guide/cover and then the clips once I realized I needed those as well last month. I haven’t seen any threads that were just about protecting those wires. I know on my 87 that the original guide/cover one was completely cracked and useless when I got the car, so I first removed it and tried just zip tieing the wires together, but I was worried about eventual rubbing, so I fixed it when I did the timing belt last month.

The part numbers are:

1ea 11141716133
2ea 11141716134

They are cheap and protect both the oil pressure switch wire and the CPS wire.

Thanks Fred! Unfortunately, Ill miss RA. Will you be at CMS in July?[/quote]

Hope so. I’ll keep 'em in the truck…

I think I figured out last night why I had such trouble keeping my rear end underneath me at Roebling. It wasn’t just my “lets tighten the rear sway” experiment. The camber in my left rear had changed somehow from -2.4 to -1.6. That’s going to be fixed before I go to RA.

I went thru turn 9 sideways at 110mph lap after lap. I encourage you to give that a try yourself.

Are you trying to persuade or dissuade me from joining you guys in racing? :frowning:

I check my speedo each time at the end of the left side gators coming out of turn 9. Granted, the car is actually unloaded a fair distance earlier so genuine turn exit speeds is prob 6-7mph lower. At the end of the gators 110mph is an average effort and 113 is a pretty good one. But there’s no question that my speedo is optimistic.

Ok, I made myself go pull up some old data. When the car is unloaded of lateral g’s at turn 9 exit I’m at ~99mph on a good run and Skeen is at 101. Call it 6mph of optimistic speedo and 7mph of accel between turn exit and gator end.

I doubt I’ll ever see that kind of speed and sorry, my sense of humor gets me into trouble often.
