Road Atlanta "who's coming" and Smack Talk Thread

I’m in for all of the above.

BTW, Gasman has some Georgian Setup stars on the ticket…

i disagree…plenty of long enduros have large fields…the vir 13hr had 68 cars run this year. that’s down from the 80 (max allowed) last year…enduros (especially long ones) usually bring out a lot of drivers that may not normally run in that particular series (the 13 hr is the only scca race i typically drive in)…another factor might be that most nasa racers in the SE are sprint racers (and have cars setup for sprints)

#23

the 13 hr. has a reputation.
for races like our nasa enduros, which are “come out and race for 3hrs.” and “come out and race for 8hrs”, threres not going to be a wow factor like racing at night, with lots of pro guys, in a traditional race, etc. like the 13 hr.
Hopefully we’ll be there someday soon.

I disagree. I think there’s lots of “Wow”. At RA every time I am hauling ass towards the turn-in of 11 with eyeballs fastened upon the geometry of turn 12 I’m thinking to myself: “WOW”. Which is followed by “F**K I THINK I’M GOING TO DIE” and "BUT I’M NOT GONNA LET THAT BASTARD McMENNAMY PULL AWAY’.

definitely…i’d love to see the nasa se endurance series grow and flourish…it’s going to take a lot hard work and racer support…hopefully more SE racers will start to understand how fun and challenging endurance racing can be!

I’ll be there. I’m just a lowly DE guy, but if there’s no objection I may paddock with you guys and try to gleen some small bit of SE30 knowledge.

Matt

Ill be there for the sprints and crewing for the enduro.

By all means paddock with us. We are the center of all E30 fun. I can’t imagine why E30 types would hang around the DE lot.

Yeah would you guys mind having a soon to be spec racer (Hopefully Feb) paddock with you guys just so I can meet everyone and maybe learn a thing or two?

EDIT: Ranger answered my question before I could even finish my post

You should reconsider. Due to the extremely high doses of fun we’ve had in the past, we’re going to dial the fun way back. It’ll seem more like the DE lot… you be right at home with us.

com’on… it what all the kids are doing these days

I wish. But with having two students and having to start on the wrong side of the track, if I parked where all the fun people hang out, I will be driving more going back and forth between the sides than driving on the track. :frowning:

“Dialing the fun back” in this context means that the girls will be >18, and we will remember to get all the cars off of the track after our unsanctioned night enduro.

I’m doing more HPDE at RA also. Is there a parking map out yet? I didn’t realize we’d be at the other end of the earth.

The Racers recently have been using the Pro pits on the inside of the front straight, and DE, TT and Instructors use the outside paddock. I will park where ever it tells me to, as that is what side I will grid from. It is just a short walk across the bridge!

#36

Well in that case, we’ll see you there, where ever that turns up being, :stuck_out_tongue: .

Looks like we’ll have a good number of E30’s in the DE paddock.

#37

I’m in for the whole weekend. Can’t wait to get back in the car. Does anyone know what the total turn out for the enduro is looking like? Part of the fun is dealing with different classes of cars even if many of them are faster than ours.

#38

Glad to hear you’re coming, David. There are about a dozen cars (4 in E2) on the list; there’s also an '06 Elan DP02, an '08 Ford GT-R, and some (I’m guessing) KONI Challenge BMWs.

Team Blind Squirrel Racing (Car 401) is now signed up, and is ready to kick some E2 booty, with an all-SE driving lineup. No imported talent here; we’ve got all we need right in Atlanta.

The late signup fee starts 11/20 say Julie our cruise director, so it’s time to lock in your entry.

I’ll be there to crew for Team Blind Squirrel and to instruct nubz on Sat and Sun.

Even though my e30 has disappeared can I park my e36 with it’s ancestors (the cars, not the people)?
