Road Atlanta "who's coming" and Smack Talk Thread

#1

Geez Louise, you guys are quiet. Very disappointing that I had to start this thread. I’d have thought Ranger or AllenR would have kicked it off.

Anyway gang, time to sign up for the event, and don’t forget about the banquet. A quick look at the race entry list shows it’s pretty light. I think a bunch of you are planning to come, but haven’t seen the signups yet.

Fred is even making his comeback in the “car of many colors” - but he’s thinking it might be getting a paint job over the winter. Feel free to give him your opinion on the wisdom of fresh paint.

If you’ve been hoarding RA1s, now is the time to grind them to the cords so come on out and have a good time. Don’t forget to have family/friends/crew bring a toy to exchange for the grounds entry fee.

I’m there…

#3

I’m not going to make it. Consider it an early Christmas present for Jim and Travis.

#4

I’m in for both enduro and sprint races. I’ll talk more smack once I get back from the dyno tomorrow and have a more accurate idea of how badly I’m going to kick everyone’s mediocre a$$.

#5

I like Geiger’s plan. We’ll know soon enough.

So unlike TeddyM3, I am going to wait until I meet a few more of you guys before I really let my mouth outrun my talent.

I’ll be in an Integra for the enduro, but I will be making my southeast debut in the E30 for the sprints.

I’ll be there for the Enduro (car of many colors, driver #2) and Sprints. And I’m coming fiercely determined to suck less.

I’ll also be at RA the weekend prior with Chin.

#7

I’m in for the enduro for sure and more than likely the sprints.

Last night I re-watched the video of you passing my ass just after the green and then checking out on me, as I helplessly fell farther and farther back. $@%@$##%&$##&!!!

#9

I’m in.

You enduro guys keep the riff raff out of the spec e30 paddock area!

  • Or just make it so only the riff raff are let in!

#10

(as Chuck mentioned)I’m baaaackk.

And actually the new red, black, blue and some more red color scheme is growing on me. I may keep it…:stuck_out_tongue:

#11

I’m there dude, for it all.

In for the sprints, working on a ride for the enduro.

#13

I’m going to do the enduro, not sure about the weekend yet.

Me too. Kinda want to make sure my car survives 8 hrs of abuse from all of the ringers I’ve got lined up to drive. Gonna be an interesting battle between MLT and Team XXX.

#15

Yep, I’ve heard some pretty talanted guys are showing up for this one, it should be fun to watch.

#16

I had an all-star team lined up for the enduro but now its a no go. The turn out for the enduro looks very weak. For me to want abuse the car for 8 hrs the enduro there would need at least 25-30 total cars on track. Right now it is shaping up to be an 8 hour lapping day. No thanks.

In for the sprints

Damion are you sure the enduro is really that light? Yeah the registered #s are low, but let’s count off the committed and maybes just in SpecE30 (E2) for the enduro. Personally, I’m trying to nail down exact number of drivers (and coincidentally waiting for the Visa cycle to close) before I plunk down the cash, and suspect others may be doing the same.

008 Robinson is in.
401 Taylor looking pretty firm
800 Wilson already registered
63 Pantas is in

Rumors:
53 Fred ‘car of many colors’ I think is in along with Ranger
Gasman says he in (Steve, your car, or ???)
Beertech?
Young Robert Allen?
Keith/Brandon?
Others? Any of the Florida crazies (Natalie/John, I’m looking at you!)

Hell, with a little luck we could have almost 10 SpecE30 cars alone. That’s bigger than our sprint field sizes in many 2006 races. Give your kids the gift of time and love, and spend that Xbox money on the race fee. Come on!

Oh, I’m down for the sprints too if there’s anything left of my car from Friday.

#18

Chuck, Yes…my car for the enduro with a few local boys to relieve me. I’d like to do the weekend races but at best could only do Saturday. Gasgirl has plans for me Sunday.

#19

Cool. Saturday is the main sprint race anyway (double points). Sunday is a combined fun race with the Thunder group.

Couldnt make it work… but definately in for next year!

I think longer enduros seem to have lighter turnouts because you have so many more drivers to a car. For ex. if you have 40 drivers willing to do the race and its a 3hr. (2 drivers per car?) then you will have 20 entries. If you have 40 drivers willing for a 8hr. (3 or 4 drivers per car?) then you will have more like 10-15 entries. Unless you guys are doing 2 drivers for an 8hr which sounds impossible to me… but good luck!
